If you are looking for a memorable trip to Portugal, there is no better city to explore than Porto. Dive into your holiday by visiting the Livraria Lello, one of the oldest bookstores in Portugal. Boasting incredibly detailed neo-gothic designs and beautiful winding staircases, it's no wonder that J.K. Rowling found inspiration to write Harry Potter on its second floor. After exploring the Livraria Lello, enjoy a cup of coffee on the Liberdade Square, which connects the old and modern areas of the city. In its very centre, an equestrian bronze statue of King Pedro IV stands 10 metres tall. This statue also includes the Portuguese Magna Carta!
From the square, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Clérigos Tower, part of a Baroque church constructed in 1750. If you wish to gain a fantastic perspective of Porto, you can climb the 240 steps to the top of the tower. After your scenic coffee break, you can walk to the Igreja dos Carmelitas, a richly gilded church just 2 minutes away. On one exterior wall, blue and white tiles cover its entirety, making it the perfect setting for a memorable photograph.
As the day unwinds, treat yourself to some amazing food at Ribeira Square. Here you can find some charming and delicious small restaurants that feature splendid seafood dishes. During your trip, you can truly uncover the delights of the city, and view wondrous sites that you will remember forever.
