As well as checking out these hugely important historic sites, be sure to also check out the magnificent Sistine Chapel during your stay too — here you can see Michelangelo's spectacular Last Judgment, which took him 4 years to complete! Naturally it goes without saying that any trip to Rome is every bit as much of a culinary adventure as it is a step back in time. You can look forward to sipping on a fresh coffee accompanied by a cream-filled Roman Maritozzo in the morning and rounding off your day with a hearty plate of Bucatini alla Matriciana — both of which are native to the city. After that, you’ll start with skip-the-line tickets to the Roman Forum, where you’ll get to walk along the Via Sacra towards the place where Julius Caesar was cremated. Listen as your guide relates the city’s founding legends on Palatine Hill, before finishing with a tour of the Colosseum, learning about the legendary amphitheatre’s dramatic and bloody past.
