Day 7: The Longmen Caves of Luoyang
Day 7 begins with another fantastic China highlight: the Longmen Caves of Luoyang. Luoyang is one of China's oldest cities and was once the centre of the Tang Dynasty. Many historic buildings and monuments adorn the city, including the Buddhist Temple of the White Horse.
Day 8: From Luoyang to Shanghai by night train
Spend the first half of the day exploring Luoyang. For museum lovers, head to the Luoyang Museum or the Folk Art Museum, or for those looking for more examples of ancient Chinese history, book an optional excursion to the Shaolin Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site dating back to 495 AD. Servin…
Day 9-10: Shanghai
The night train will pull into Shanghai in the morning. After being picked up at the station and taken to your hotel in the city, the rest of the day is yours to get acquainted with the modern metropolis of Shanghai as you wish - a stark contrast to the ancient city you just departed!
Optional excursions are available to make your trip even more spectacular. All excursions can be booked and paid for during the booking process. You will receive all practical information before departure. All excursions include an English-speaking guide, transport and entry fees.
• Beijing by Rickshaw hutong streets + Kung Fu show (day 2 - 3 hours) • Enjoy the sight of Beijing's iconic, narrow hutong streets from a rickshaw before experiencing a traditional Kung Fu show!
• City tour in Pingyao Old Town (Day 5 - 4 hours) • Pingyao is a small town with a great history. Discover the UNESCO-listed Old Town's historic Rishengchang Bank Building, the beautiful Confucius Temple, and the Xianya Government Building.
• Qiao Family House (Day 5 - 4 hours) • Discover the Qiao family house and its 9,000 square metres of land where you can see one of the finest examples of a private residence from ancient China. A true architectural gem!
• Dinner Show (Day 6 - 3 hours) • Sample delicious dumplings in Xi'an as you experience a Tang Dynasty Show, complete with colourful costumes, music, dance and a spectacle of Chinese history.
• Kung Fu Monastery Shaolin (Day 8 - 4 hours) • Visit the Shaolin Monastery, which was built in 495 AD and is home to Chinese monks who practice the martial arts traditions of Wushu Chan - also known as Chinese Kung Fu.
• Oriental Pearl Tower and Boating on the Huangpu River (Day 9 - 2.5 hours) • Head to Shanghai's iconic TV tower Oriental Pearl Tower for unbeatable views of the city before boarding a boat on the Huangpu River, where you can see both old and modern Shanghai.

Based on two full-paying adults per room, travellers will receive a discount on hotel stays for children 9 years and younger. This is dependent on the chosen travel period and whether the child sleeps in a separate bed. Please note: children up to 12 months old receive a discount on the plane ticket, but will not receive a seat or baggage allowance.
Unfortunately, cots are not available throughout this trip.
