An on-point Portugal stay for two, three or four nights at a minimalist hotel in Lisbon's beating heart

A uniquely cool capital, Lisbon's recent urban development and hub as start-up capital of Europe sit alongside its sun-bleached, timeworn charm and storied traditions. From majestic monasteries and grandiose cathedrals to retro cafés and the bohemian neighbourhoods, Lisbon is a place to spend a little time over.

For either two, three or four nights, you could be strolling down cobbles squares, sipping espressos mid-morning and eating cream-filled pastries, before visiting some striking Renaissance and Gothic architecture. As the sun starts to set, a different side of Lisbon unfolds: sip vinho verde from outside bars, feast on plates of meat and cheese, then slip on those dancing shoes and samba the night away.

Included
  • Two, three or four nights in a Standard Double or Twin room

  • Breakfast included

  • Return flight from to Lisbon

Lively Lisbon

Built on several hills on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, Lisbon is a lively capital city known for its laid-back atmosphere, mild climate, and thriving cultural scene. Wander the cobbled streets of the old Alfama neighbourhood to get a glimpse of local life, visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Mosteiro dos Jerónimos, and step into another world at Museu do Oriente where you'll find treasures from Portugal's ties with Asia. When the sun goes down, it's time to sample some of the city's legendary nightlife, whether it's experiencing some traditional Fado music in an intimate bar or dancing the night away in an exclusive club.

To take in the beauty of the city, plan a trip to the top of the Cristo Rei, a magnificent statue which stands over 100 metres tall on the opposite bank of the Tejo River from Lisbon and offers stunning views over the city. The impressive national art collection at the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga is an absolute must for culture vultures. For those after something more alternative, most of the Lisbon Metro operates as a free art gallery exhibiting works by contemporary artists inspired by the are surrounding the various stations.

Our tips
  • Lisbon's oldest neighbourhood

Alfama is the oldest neighborhood in the city, and it's easy to see this. Browse the labyrinthine of winding alleys and be surprised by what you find at every corner. You'll probably get lost here, but you will eventually end up on one of the miradouros - the terraces where you have a fantastic view over the neighborhood.

  • The greener side of Lisbon

Cultivated in 1878, this vibrant garden is home to many tropical species of plants and flowers from all over the globe - it's well worth taking a lazy afternoon to stroll around the fragrant paths and admiring Mother Nature's handiwork.

  • Hilltop views

Sat on a hilltop overlooking the city, this landmark is perhaps Lisbon’s most iconic and noticeable. The grounds of this 11th-century castle are also home to a Black Chamber room for 360-degree snapshots of the city, as well as the ruins of the former Royal Palace of the Alcáçova
