Athens: the capital of Greece boasts over 3,500 years of recorded history and is home to not one, but two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the iconic Acropolis of Athens and the medieval Daphni Monastery. The city is bursting with Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman monuments which tell the story of a long and fascinating past. The National Archeological Museum is a much-loved highlight of Athens, featuring the world's largest collection of ancient Greek artefacts.
