By car in Oman | In Oman, you drive on the right side of the road. The speed limit is usually 120 km / h on motorways and 60 km / h in urban areas. Road signs are in both Arabic and English. In general, roads in Oman are paved and well maintained. However, the roads around the Wahiba Sands and Al Hajar mountains are not paved. They are also steep and cannot be reached without a four-wheel drive. The petrol stations are most often staffed and you can give tips when refuelling. Most petrol stations have a shop - some have toilets and a restaurant. Gasoline is cheap. We recommend that you rent a GPS from the car rental company (for a fee of about 15 USD per day). Alternatively, you can download Google Maps on your phone so you can operate the map without being on the Internet.
