If you want, you have the chance to make your trip even more exciting and magical by including the following excursions, which can be booked and paid for during the booking process. • Excursion to the village of Wulai (Days 2, 8, 9 or 10) • You will be picked up from your hotel after lunch and taken to Wulai, a beautifully located village in northern Taiwan. The area is known for its hot springs and waterfalls - the impressive Wulai waterfall tumbles from a height of 80 metres. During the visit you will also take part in a cultural dance. The excursion lasts for about 4 hours and includes a guide.

• Evening excursion in Taipei (Days 2, 8, 9 or 10) • This outing offers a great chance to experience Taipei in the evening. You will be picked up at your hotel and taken to visit Longshan Temple (or 'Dragon Mountain'), one of Taipei's oldest and most famous temples, as well as the Huaxi Street Night Market - with traditional lanterns and historic restaurants. Prepare to be impressed by Taipei 101 - at over 500 metres tall, it was once the world's tallest building. The excursion lasts for about 4 hours and includes a guide.

• Folk art in Sanxia and Yingge (Days 2, 8, 9 or 10) • You will be picked from your the hotel after lunch. First, visit Sanxia, ​​which is located about 22 kilometres southwest of Taipei. The main attraction of this lively city, with its narrow, charming streets, is the Zushi Temple, which is known for its intricate statues and columns of stone and bronze. The excursion continues to the small town of Yingge, which is Taiwan's centre for pottery. The excursion lasts for about 4 hours and includes a guide.

• Pingxi Old Street and Sky Lantern Experience (Days 8, 9 or 10) • This excursion departs from the hotel early in the morning and takes you to Pingxi District. In the past, the workers in this remote mountain village used lanterns to inform their families that they were safe. Today, the lamps are a symbol of peace and happiness. You also visit the Pingxi Branch Rail Line, which runs through the Keelung River Valley. Today, the romantic beauty of the landscape is a popular place for filming. Here you will also find the Shifen waterfall, also called 'Taiwan's Niagara Falls'. The excursion lasts for about 4 hours and includes a guide.

• Excursion to Thousand Island Lake and Pinglin Tea Plantation (Days 8, 9 or 10) • You will be picked up from your hotel early in the morning for a magical journey that begins with Thousand Island Lake - which, as the name implies, is a lake with thousands of islands. The area is ideal for tea cultivation and is a place for relaxation, far away from the noise and bustle of the city, with fantastic views of mountains covered in lush greenery. You will visit a tea plantation in Pinglin, a beautiful mountain village surrounded by mountains and forests, where you will also find the Pinglin Tea Museum. The excursion lasts for about 4.5 hours and includes a guide.

• Excursion to the island's north coast (Days 8, 9 or 10) • You will be picked up from your hotel in the morning and head to Keelung. Located about 40 minutes northeast of Taipei, it's Taiwan's premier water sports destination. In Chung Cheng Park you can see the huge statue of Guanyin (the Goddess of Mercy) and enjoy a panoramic view of the harbour. You will also visit Yehliu Park, which is famous for its natural stone formations. The excursion lasts for about 4 hours and includes a guide.
