From hot springs and steaming lava fields to quaint fishing villages, West Iceland is a treasure-trove of natural beauty. Embark on a spectacular self-driving adventure starting in the stylish capital of Reykjavik, before heading on to the historic village of Reykholt and the magical Snæfellsnes peninsula. Along the way, you can marvel at the Hraunfossar and Barnafossar waterfalls outside Reykholt, take a dip in the steaming hot waters at the Deildatunghuver geothermal pools, and step back in time in the atmospheric village of Stykkisholmur. By night, the pristine dark skies are ablaze with countless stars, and you might just catch the surreal and beautiful sight of the Aurora Borealis dancing across the heavens.
While we can't guarantee they'll come out, you'll have handy Northern Light alerts at your hotels to give you the heads up in case they make an appearance, as these are a natural phenomenon.
