See the best of Vietnam and Cambodia with an amazing tour and overnight cruise of Halong Bay - includes breakfast and all travel, plus excursions

Day 1: UK/Ireland - Hanoi, Vietnam

Your epic adventure begins at your chosen airport, from which you’ll fly overnight to Hanoi, Vietnam.

Day 2: Hanoi

Arrive in Vietnam's bustling capital, Hanoi - a city characterised by centuries-old architecture and vibrant Southeast Asian culture. Transfer to your hotel and spend the rest of the day discovering this fascinating city, or simply kicking back at the hotel.

Day 3: Hanoi

You’ll spend Day 3 on an action-packed city tour of Hanoi, where you’ll see historic sites likes the downed US B-52 bomber at Tiep Lake, Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum and the One Pillar Pagoda, the origins of which date back as far as the city. You’ll also bear witness to the hive of activity at Hanoi’s Old Quarter streets as locals go about their trades. You’ll get back to your hotel in the late afternoon and the rest of the day is yours to relax.

Day 4: Hanoi

Today you’ll be able to see Vietnam’s busiest city at your leisure, or, if you’d prefer, there’s an optional full-day excursion to Ninh Binh, renowned for its karst mountains and misty caves. This is your chance to admire the natural beauty of Vietnam, as you’ll take a rowing boat along Thing Nham Valley’s canals before continuing to Mua Cave. There's also an optional Jeep ride to the countryside and a 1,000-year-old ceramic village of Bat Trang.

Day 5: Hanoi - Halong Bay

Leaving Hanoi, you’ll transfer by road and make your way to Halong Bay for your exciting overnight cruise. The bay’s a World Heritage Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, known for the limestone islands that rise majestically from the glittering water, and when you arrive you’ll board the traditional junk boat and begin your aquatic adventure. Enjoy the islets, local fishing villages, caves and islands from the sundeck aboard your traditional junk boat.

Day 6: Halong Bay - Hanoi

After a filling brunch, the ship will make its way back to the port, and from here you’ll bid the panoramas of Halong Bay farewell and head back to Hanoi.

Day 7: Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City

After breakfast at the hotel it’s time to fly to the 'Pearl of the Far East', Ho Chi Minh City, formerly Saigon. After arriving at your next hotel, spend the rest of the day in whatever fashion you want; you may want to check out the city’s famous night market right away and pick up a souvenir or two. There's also an optional half-day excursion to famous Cu Chi Tunnels, a network of underground villages that were dug in 1948 by guerrillas to escape the bombardment of French forces.

Day 8: Ho Chi Minh City

Day 8 entails an amazing full-day tour of the city, where you get a taste of the rich tapestry of history and culture that’s woven throughout Ho Chi Minh. Once upon a time, the city was called 'The Paris of the Orient' because of the French colonial influence, which can still be seen today with the 19th-century Central Post Office and awe-inspiring Notre-Dame Cathedral that's made entirely of materials imported from France. You’ll also go to China Town and see the iconic Thien Hau Temple, before concluding your day with a trip to the buzzy Ben Thanh market.

Day 9: Ho Chi Minh City

You have the day to yourself to further explore Ho Chi Minh, or if you’d prefer, there’s an amazing optional excursion along the historic mighty Mekong Delta.

Day 10: Ho Chi Minh City - Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Say goodbye to Vietnam and transfer by road to Cambodia’s bustling capital - Phnom Penh. When you arrive at your hotel you have the rest of the day to yourself, but for anyone itching to get out, there’s an optional city tour where you’ll be able to tick top-billed sites off your list, such as the Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda and the Central Market.

Day 11: Phnom Penh

Today’s morning will be spent on a highly poignant excursion to the infamous Killing Fields of Choeung Ek, where you’ll get a glimpse into the horror and tragedy of this country’s history. The rest of the day is yours to do as you will. There's also an option to head on a Phnom Penh city tour to explore everything from the fascinating Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda to a cruise on the Mekong River.

Day 12: Phnom Penh - Siem Reap

Leave Phnom Penh behind and head by road (or by plane, for an extra charge) to the amazing city of Siem Reap, famed for being the gateway to the Angkor Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and former capital of the Khmer empire. Upon arrival, meet your driver and transfer to your hotel. Get acquainted with your surroundings by diving straight in and heading out to see the city, or just relax at your hotel.

Day 13: Siem Reap - Angkor Complex

Let the magic really begin as you set out to explore the most significant temples in the Angkor Complex, including Angkor Thom and the 12th century Preah Khan Temple. Channel your inner Indiana Jones in the afternoon and arrive at Angkor Wat, a world heritage site, and wonder at the magnificence of this most revered Cambodian temple.

Day 14: Siem Reap

Today can be spent at your leisure. Wander around the vibrant city taking it all in, or go to the sacred Phnom Kulen Mountain and surrounding countryside on an optional tour.

Day 15: Siem Reap

You have another chance to soak up the culture of Siem Reap on your own time today. If you want to learn as much about this amazing country as you can, there's another optional tour in line for you - today it’s a boat trip on Tonle Sap Lake, a huge body of freshwater renowned for its floating villages, farms, schools, shops and temples. Make the most of your final evening in Siem Reap with an optional Tuk-Tuk street food tour (enough to make all foodie’s stomachs rumble), where you’ll sample a wide array of authentic cuisine before dinner at a local restaurant.
