Day 1: Amman

With its spectacularly diverse and ancient landscape, the Hashemites Kingdom of Jordan is a true land of wonder, blanketed in endless pages of history and magnificence. You’ll fly out to Amman, the country’s capital where modernity meshes with awe-inspiring sites and a skyline of boxy sand-hued buildings. Check in to your hotel and unwind before your adventure begins the next day.

Day 2: Amman - Jerash - Ajloun - Amman

Take a brief tour of Amman, seeing its most important avenues, the Ciudadela, the urban centre and the Roman Theatre. Then, journey north to Jerash to see the Arc de Triomphe, the Oval Square, the Cardo and more. Move on to Ajloun Castle, which is located on a mountaintop, and so affords fantastic views, before returning to Amman for an extra night

Day 3: Amman - Madaba - Mount Nebo - Shobak Castle - Petra

Visit the Church of San Jorge in Madaba to admire the 560-year-old mosaic - the oldest map of the Holy Land. Continue to Mount Nebo where you’re greeted with vast panoramic views of the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea before visiting the remains of a Byzantine Church. Head to Shobak Castle, located on a mountainside, before arriving in Petra, one of Jordan’s most marvellous treasures. Add a little magic to your stay with an optional Petra by night excursion.

Day 4: Petra

Next up is the Lost City of Petra. One of the Seven Wonders of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this bucket list-ticking city is home to Nabatean palaces and tombs, carved into rose-hued sandstones, narrow canyons and the unique temple of Al Khazneh – all of which you'll have a chance to explore.

Day 5: Petra - Little Petra - Wadi Rum

Head for 'Little Petra' - a narrow, two-metre gorge with typical Nabatean architecture. Then, head to Wadi Rum - a desert of orange sands made famous by Lawrence of Arabia. Take a 4x4 excursion over the lunar-like landscapes and marvel at the granite cliffs and mountains from afar, before dinner and sleeping under the stars.

Day 6: Wadi Rum - Aqaba

After breakfast, you’ll leave the sweeping desert landscape behind you as you continue on to Aqaba, the Red Sea harbour city close to the border of Israel. Check in to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Days 7 & 8: Aqaba

Aqaba, known as the gateway to the remarkable Red Sea, awaits. You have two days here to explore its fascinating facets; stroll the historic Old Town picking up trinkets to take home, relax on the beach by the lapping waves, or take a deep dive and discover the abundant marine life of the Red Sea. Home to over 25 diving sites, the scuba-diving opportunities are plentiful for those wanting to explore this underwater world. A particular highlight is the ‘Japanese Garden’ diving area, where you can admire some of the most beautiful coral reefs in the Red Sea.

Day 9: Aqaba - Amman

It’s time to leave Aqaba and head back to Amman for a further two nights. Make the most of this down time, soaking up the cultural atmosphere, from old Romanesque amphitheatres to the new street murals from the likes of local artists.

Day 10: Amman - Desert Castles - Dead Sea - Amman

A truly unique experience awaits today: you’ll head to the astounding Desert Castles - constructed from the seventh to the 11th centuries, they were used as caravans and for defence by the military. Then, visit the amazing Dead Sea - the lowest point on earth, it’s a shimmering turquoise mirage packed with minerals and oils to give it its ethereal colour. You’ll then head back to Amman for one more night.

Day 11: Amman - UK

Sadly, it’s time to check-out of your hotel in Amman and head to the airport for your flight home.

The following optional excursions can be booked for an additional charge:

- Amman afternoon city tour: Be guided around the city’s most precious sites including the Amman Citadel, Hercules Temple, and Ummayad Palace (£166 per person)
- See Petra by night: See this Wonder of the World lit up by night, including the spectacular Treasury (£49 per person)

The order of the itinerary may differ depending on your arrival day at the destination:

- Tuesday and Sunday: 1 night in Amman, 2 nights in Petra, 1 night in Wadi Rum, 3 nights in Aqaba and 3 nights in Amman;
