Enjoy Tuscany's art and culinary treasures in Pisa, Florence, Chianti and more, including flights, car hire, breakfast, wine tasting and a dinner
Day 1: UK - Pisa - Montecarlo
After your flight into Pisa, you can collect your car and enjoy the scenic drive to Montecarlo, an historic town standing on the hilltop above Lucca. Home to mediaeval architecture, including a 16th century fortress and magnificent churches, Montecarlo is the ideal introduction to the stunning Tuscan scenery.
Day 2: Lucca - Pisa
The next morning, you'll be driving to Lucca, known as the city of a hundred churches. As you enter this historic centre, you'll pass through one of the seven gates of its mediaeval city walls. Take in the sights on a walking tour, where you'll get to see the Roman-era marketplace, as well as the impressive Church of San Michele. Later in the afternoon, you'll drive to Pisa, home to the iconic Leaning Tower, as well as the regal Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, a spectacular marble church filled with art. Drive back to Montecarlo, where you'll spend the night.
Day 3 - 4: Florence
Today takes you into the heart of the Italian Renaissance, as you head to the city of art. Home to some of the most well-known masterpieces in the world, it's well worth visiting the renowned Uffizi Gallery, where you'll find treasures from Botticelli, Michelangelo, Titian and Leonardo da Vinci. A stroll around Florence never fails to impress either - gaze up at the beautiful Basilica of Santa Croce, take a stroll over the picturesque Ponte Vecchio, or visit the replica of Michelangelo's David in the Palazzo Vecchio. On day four, you'll be treated to a delicious traditional Florentine dinner in a local restaurant, where you can indulge in the exquisite flavours of Tuscany.
Day 5: Montepulciano - Pienza
Your next destination is Pienza, named after Pope Pius II, who hoped to turn his birthplace into a centre of art. A scenic drive through the Tuscan countryside takes you to this charming village, where you'll find local gems including the Cattedrale del' Assunta, which houses several works of art, and the impressive Palazzo Piccolomini. Home to a delightful hanging garden, the area was also famously featured in the classic Franco Zeffirelli film, Romeo and Juliet. On the way to Pienza, you'll also stop at Montepulciano, a stunning hilltop town famed for its Vino Noble wine.
Day 6: Pienza - Montalcino - Siena
Your next overnight stay will be in the impressive mediaeval city of Siena. On the way, there's more Tuscan wine history to take in through, with a visit to the world-famous town of Montalcino, home to the Etruscan wine, Brunello. Then, on to Siena, where the narrow, winding red-brick alleys and towering palace walls take you back in time. At the heart of Siena are three hills, where the Palazzo Pubblico and Torre del Mangia tower over the landscape. Lose yourself amongst the charming alleyways to find artisanal boutiques, delicious gelato and much more.
Day 7: Chianti & Siena
A short drive out from Siena, you'll find yourself in one of Tuscany's most famous wine regions, the verdant rolling hills and valleys of Chianti. You'll also spy the historic town of Monteriggioni here - founded in the 13th century, it's famed for being named in Dante's Divine Comedy, with impressive city walls spanning nearly 600 metres.
Day 8: Siena - Pisa
Today, it's time to enjoy one last drive through the Tuscan hills as you make your way to Pisa for your flight home.
