A once-in-a-lifetime adventure across Iceland and Greenland, with a Reykjavik stay - includes an all-inclusive cruise, excursion credit and all travel

Reykjavik

Iceland is a spell-binding expanse buzzing with geothermal energies, bursting with organic hot springs and verdant with virile volcanoes. This adventure into these enchanting lands starts and ends in Iceland's captivating capital. What it lacks in size, the most northerly capital more than makes up for in culture, nightlife, gastronomy, and of course panoramas - you'll have brightly coloured rooftops and snow-topped mountains as your backdrop.

Cruise itinerary

Day 1: Djupivogur, Iceland

Start off your Icelandic leg in Djupivogur, a small coastal village known as the country's 'slow city', nestled by the picturesque fjord of Hamarsfjörður in east Iceland. Soak up breathtaking landscapes, like the pyramid-shaped peak of Búlandstindur mountain (a staggering 1069 metres high), as well as a number of volcanic beaches. Djúpivogur is also home to one of Iceland’s more offbeat attractions: local artist Sigurður Guðmundsson's Eggs of Merry Bay - 34 granite eggs representing various local bird species. Each oversized egg, created is atop its own pedestal along in the town’s harbour.

Day 2: Akureyri, Iceland

Next up is Akureyri, the capital of northern Iceland, which offers a more authentic, unspoilt landscape, and an even greater chance of spotting the elusive Aurora Borealis. Highlights here include Lake Mývatn and the heavenly Goðafoss Waterfall. Soak up the ethereal sight of the shallow eutrophic lake surrounded by dramatic landscapes featuring landforms carved by volcanoes. This high geothermal area is bubbling over with mesmerising sulphuric mud pits to bathe in and dragon-like steaming vents.

Day 3: Isafjordur, Iceland

Sail on to Isafjordur, which translates as 'fjord of ices', is a postcard-pretty town in the Westfjords brimming with breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural experiences. It's a paradise for nature and wildlife lovers - be sure to keep your eyes peeled for puffins, Arctic foxes, seals, and more. Go whale-watching, learn about Isafjordur’s history at Culture House, explore the magnificent Bunárfoss waterfall, and hike to the Troll Seat.

Day 4: At Sea

Spend the day at sea getting to know the Norwegian Star cruise ship and all of its amazing facilities.

Day 5: Nanortalik, Greenland

The southernmost town in Greenland, Nanortalik is a place of majestic beauty - and while its name translates to 'the place with polar bears', sighting them is a rarity. From the nearby Tasermiut Fjord, where rocky summits rise above a narrow glacial inlet, to the Qinngua Valley, the only forest in all of Greenland, Nanortalik is surrounded by natural wonders. For a cultural fix, there's the Nanortalik Museum which explores native, Old Norse and European colonial history.

Day 6: Paamiut (Frederikshåb), Greenland

Paamiut is remote Greenland at its best, and a well-kept secret. Home to the biggest population of white-tailed eagles on the island, you can watch them soar through the sky on ‌an‌ ‌outdoor‌ ‌adventure‌ ‌along‌ ‌ancient‌ ‌trails. Elsewhere, look out for whales in the icy waters, and soak up the scattered skyline of colourful historic houses against an imposing mountain backdrop.

Day 7: Nuuk, Greenland

The last stop on your Greenland tour is the burgeoning capital, Nuuk - the biggest city on the island, and unlike any other capital on the globe. Get to know the city's vibrant, modern centre and picture-perfect skyline, before walking a few minutes to the shores of the Nuuk Fjord - one of the world’s largest fjord systems. This up-and-coming Nordic cultural hub is also home to gourmet restaurants, fashion boutiques, award-winning architecture, and several museums.

Day 8-9: At Sea

Spend the next two days at sea, making the most of your ship's amenities, from the plethora of wining and dining options to spa and thermal suite.

Day 10: Reykjavik, Iceland

Set sail back to Reykjavik this morning, and upon arrival enjoy some time at your leisure.

Day 11: UK

Head to the airport and catch your flight back to the UK.
