Green hotel: Set in a valley between the breathtaking Alps, Prinz Rudolf Smarthotel is a futuristic glass structure among groves of beautiful grapevines. Despite the modern architecture, the building seamlessly blends into the hills due to its show-stopping grass roof garden, complete with pretty walkways and trees. Rooftop pools: The whole hotel was designed around the concept for the rooftop infinity pool, with panoramic views over the Alps. The rooftop garden also has two further pools for chilled out bathing, and for an extra dose of wellness and relaxation, check into the spa, where you can enjoy a mesmerising massage, or simply stretch out in an armchair in the spa’s lounge and take in the remarkable views.
How to get there
Prinz Rudolf is just outside Merano, Italy. Innsbruck Airport is 150 kilometres away, which takes about two hours to drive. The hotel has parking availability and electric vehicle charging stations.

The Alpine spa town of Merano is a tranquil yet vibrant place, characterised by its elegant Art Nouveau buildings, spacious parks, and botanical gardens, not to mention the medieval arcades, castles and town gates. For a feeling of natural Alpine wellness, the thermal baths in the centre of town are definitely worth a visit.
Traditionally, South Tyrol is a large wine-growing region, so it’s no wonder that the landscape and hills surrounding Merano are covered in vineyards. In Marlengo, a village just outside Merano, the Merano Burggräfler Winery brings together 380 smaller-scale wine producers - go and visit the local wine cellars and try a glass or two of the local triumphs the region is famed for.
