Included excursions

Northern Lights

Search for the beautiful Northern Lights, as well as the sparkling stars and constellations across the dark winter skies - there are few better places to see them than in the north of Iceland. You’ll be accompanied by an experienced guide who can help you identify what you see.

Northern Lights and Forest Lagoon (possible upgrade from Northern Lights tour)

Your escape to the North begins with a short drive to the Forest Lagoon geothermal baths, where you can relax in the region’s warm waters. Overlooking Eyjafjörður, one of Iceland's longest fjords, the spa's unique location, surrounded by birch and pine trees, truly sets it apart. After soaking up the tranquillity of the surrounding scenery and the energy of Vaðlaskógur, the second half of the tour takes you outside Akureyri. With experienced guides, seek out nature's most fascinating display of artistry: the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights. While a sighting of the Northern Lights can never be predicted, few places offer better viewing than the skies around Akureyri.

Optional excursions

Forest Lagoon

Enjoy a trip to the Forest Lagoon, overlooking one of Iceland’s longest fjords, Eyjafjörður. The spa’s unique location is surrounded by birch and pine trees and features two thermal pools with temperatures of 37°C and 40°C, as well as a Finnish dry sauna, and a cold pool with a temperature of 11°C - all with their own unique health benefits.

Akureyri city walk and food tasting

Dive into Akureyri's charm on a three-hour city tour, where an expert guide will bring Akureyri's history to life, from its trading post roots to its vibrant cultural scene today. As you explore, you'll get to tantalise your tastebuds with a stop at a local restaurant, savouring authentic Icelandic dishes as your guide shares insights into Icelandic cuisine and dining customs. After your meal, take a stroll along the scenic shores of Eyjafjörður, where you can breathe in the fresh air and admire the breathtaking mountain views and peaceful waters.

Classic whale watching tour from Akureyri harbour

Guided by experts, you'll sail across the sparkling, marine life-rich Eyjafjörður fjord in search of the gentle giants that inhabit its waters. On a tour that lasts approximately three hours, you'll learn about local wildlife, nature and environmental issues, as well as the history of Iceland's longest fjord. A cinematic experience is guaranteed from your ship's viewing platform, where you'll be in for a chance to spot majestic blue whales, humpback whales, minke whales, killer whales and more, on this safe and sustainable tour. Your ship features indoor and outdoor seating, a bar and a cafeteria, if you're in need of refreshments during the tour. Please note, this tour may incur additional charges.
