Days 1-2: Barcelona, Spain
Welcome to Barcelona! Bursting with cultural and coastal draws, this ever-popular Spanish destination is a sun-soaked dream for lovers of food, history and art. Situated within an easy wander of Las Ramblas and Boqueria Market, your hotel puts you in the perfect position to explore the best of this bustling city. Stroll a little further and you’ll find the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art and Liceu Metro Station, giving you easy access to the rest of the vibrant Catalonian capital.
After one or two nights at your hotel, you'll transfer to the cruise terminal to board MSC Grandiosa, in preparation for seven luxurious nights aboard. Upon check-in, kick back and enjoy the ship's facilities before a scheduled departure at 6pm.
Day 3: At sea
Today will be spent at sea as you cruise on to your first destination in Tunisia. As you while the hours away on board, acquaint yourself with your ship's fantastic entertainment and wellness offerings, and relax in luxurious style - beneath the Mediterranean sun in the outdoor pool, perhaps?
Day 4: La Goulette, Tunisia
First up on your cruise itinerary is the port town of La Goulette, uniquely located on a sandbar between Lake Tunis and the Gulf of Tunis. From here you'll be a 20-minute drive into the heart of Tunis, the country's capital where the old collides with the new; soak up the sunshine in the heart of the old city or lose yourself in the souks of the Medina. Even closer to the port is the ancient city of Carthage, a jaw-dropping archaeological site of the Roman Empire and a UNESCO World Heritage Centre - if you're a history buff, this seaside destination is not to be missed.

Day 5: Palermo, Italy
Today you'll reach Palermo, where a drastically different landscape awaits. Take your own tour of this city to discover a rich history and artistic heritage, and its crown jewel, the Palermo Cathedral. While here, don't miss a jaunt into nearby Monreale, to visit its Norman Cathedral - said to be the 'eighth wonder of the world'.
Your ship is scheduled to arrive at Palermo at 8am, and depart at 6pm.
Day 6: Naples, Italy
Dating back to the second century B.C. and forever in the shadow of the looming Mount Vesuvius, Naples holds architectural triumphs such as the Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary, the Duomo di San Gennaro, and the 13th-century Castel Nuovo. Meanwhile, at the National Archaeological Museum you'll find Italy's most important collection of Ancient Roman remains and artefacts. You can’t visit the city without taking the chance to explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Pompeii, which was famously destroyed by Vesuvius in 79 A.D.
Your ship is scheduled to arrive at Naples at 6am, and depart at 2pm.
Day 7: Genoa, Italy
It's on to Genoa next: known as the gateway to Italy’s glamorous riviera, this port town is a striking symphony of medieval charm, vibrant colour and seafront bliss. Wander the winding streets and admire the Piazza Matteotti, or the magnificent La Lanterna – the towering lighthouse that harks back to the town’s rich naval heritage. You'll also be an easy train ride (approximately 45 minutes one way) to Portofino, which is worth a visit to slow your pace and enjoy a spot of pastel-coloured romance.
Your ship is scheduled to arrive at Genoa at 10am, and depart at 6pm.
Day 8: Marseille, France
Glamorous labyrinthine streets rise from Marseille’s busy port to reveal charismatic cafes and incredible architecture - altogether making an unforgettable last stop on your cruise itinerary. Its most iconic landmarks, which include the Palais Longchamp, Cathédrale La Major and hilltop Basilica of Notre-Dame of la Garde, are each well worth exploring on a day packed with history and culture. Spend a few hours at leisure in the city, or if time allows and you're feeling adventurous, go beyond to the fragrant lavender fields and vineyards of Provence.
Your ship is scheduled to arrive at Marseille at 8am, and depart at 6pm.
Day 9: Barcelona, Spain
Today you'll arrive back into Barcelona at around 8am, where you'll dock and disembark your cruise ship, followed by a transfer to the airport for your return flight back to the UK.
Please note that guests may optionally choose to spend two nights at hotel Barceló Raval in Barcelona prior to the cruise departure, in which case three days will be spent in total in Barcelona at the start of the itinerary.
Please also be aware that a slight change of itinerary will apply for departures on 31 October, 2023, as follows: Barcelona, La Goulette, Palermo, Civitavecchia, Genoa, Marseille, Barcelona. For 2024 departures, Genoa (Italy) will be replaced with Livorno (Italy) on Day 7.
