Head to the gateway of the Arctic - the Norwegian city of Tromsø. Located hundreds of metres above the Arctic Circle, Tromsø is home to the polar night, where instead of the sun rising, the winter night skies blaze with stars, and if you're lucky, the incredible Aurora Borealis too.
On this inspiring holiday, you'll have time to take in the sights of Tromsø and head out on an Northern Lights excursion in search for the beautiful natural phenomenon. Venture out into the dark with expert guides who'll fill you in on the stunning Norwegian landscape around you as you search for the colourful lights above. Next, you'll take a luxurious cruise around Tromsø island, dining on a three-course Arctic tapas dinner and marvel at the snow-capped views outside - and hopefully enjoy another chance to capture the sight of the Northern Lights above you. You'll also visit the Ice Gallery, where you'll wrap up warm before experiencing what life really is like in the Arctic Circle.
With a delicious Norwegian breakfast buffet to start the day, the Scandinavian staple of Fika time every afternoon, where you slow down and savour a cosy treat with a warming coffee, daily dinners, plus all transport throughout, this wonderful getaway has all you need for an unforgettable Arctic escape.
Please note that the Northern Lights are of course a naturally occurring phenomenon, so while you will have a good chance of seeing them (and we'll cross our fingers for you), we cannot guarantee they will oblige!

Day 2: Ice Gallery visit
Step inside a unique Tromsø attraction, with a visit to the city's ice-art gallery. You'll get to learn more about some of Norway´s most historic and famous explorers, before wrapping up with a winter poncho and gloves to keep you toasty, as you discover what life is like inside the Artic circle. You'll also enjoy the chance to sip the signature cocktail, an Arctic Crowberry at the ice-bar, in an ice glass, surrounded by gleaming sculptures made of ice.
Day 2: Northern Lights guided excursion
Accompanied by your dedicated and experienced guides, you'll head out by minibus in the evening in search of the distinctive Northern Lights with a small group. Your guides will use their local knowledge and check the weather forecast to help find the best spot where you're likely to see them. To keep you warm and cosy while you wait, your guides will fill you in on local myths, facts and stories about this impressive natural phenomenon and life in the Arctic. Weather permitting, they will make a bonfire to keep you warm, and provide hot drinks and snacks. Of course, should the Lights make an appearance, you'll want to treasure the memory, and your guides will take winter and/or Northern Lights portraits of you, so you can always treasure this amazing Arctic experience.

Day 3: Evening dinner cruise
Discover the beautiful landscape around Tromsø in the luxurious comfort of a cruise boat, while you enjoy a delectable Arctic dinner. You'll sail aboard a silent hybrid catamaran as you travel around Tromsø Island by night. With heated seats and panoramic windows, you're in the perfect setting to marvel at the snow-capped mountains, iconic city landmarks and natural wonders of Tromsø fjord, while learning more about the region from your on-board guide. During your cruise, you'll be served a delicious Arctic tapas dinner, prepared by an award-winning local restaurant. Made with locally sourced, seasonal and fresh ingredients, the three-course dinner is inspired by traditional Northern Norwegian cuisine. While drinks are not included with the dinner, you can purchase local craft beers and excellent wines on board to accompany your meal. The dark night setting is the perfect time to see the Northern Lights, so if you're lucky, you can also head out to the deck to gaze up at the natural phenomenon, should they make an appearance.

Daytime dog-sledding with lunch
Embark on a thrilling dog-sledding adventure from Camp Tamok, set in the enchanting wilderness just a scenic 90-minute drive from the centre of Tromsø. After putting on some warm clothes and listening to a quick safety briefing, you'll head off into the dreamy landscape on a two-person dog sled, drawn by a team of friendly, fluffy Alaskan huskies. After a about an hour and a half of dog sledding, you'll be treated to a scrumptious local meal around the fire in a traditional reindeer-herder’s tent, where you can relax and warm up before returning to the city.
King crab culinary experience
Dive into a luxurious king crab experience unlike any other and delight in a delicious two-course premium lunch or dinner. Begin your culinary journey with a rich and flavourful king crab soup, a perfect appetizer to whet your appetite for the main event. The star of the show awaits: succulent king crab legs. Two delectable legs are included per person, with the option to indulge further by adding an extra leg for a fee. Craving a sweet ending? This experience can be customized – swap the extra crab leg for a delightful ice cream dessert, or simply add it on as extra for a truly unforgettable feast.
Short reindeer sledding, feeding & Sami culture experience
Make sure to wrap up warm as you prepare for an unforgettable experience in the heart of Sami culture! Embark on a thrilling reindeer sledding adventure, gliding through the snow pulled by these majestic creatures. After your exhilarating ride (lasting 10-15 minutes), you'll have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the reindeer herd during a feeding session. Test your lasso-throwing skills and learn more about the fascinating traditions of the Sami people through captivating storytelling. A delicious lunch of traditional reindeer stew will warm you up from the inside out, with vegan and vegetarian options also available upon booking. Silent whale watching (available daily only between October 25, 2024 - January 31, 2025)
