Days 1-3: New York City, USA

There’s nothing like being greeted by the world’s most famous skyline to get you into a New York state of mind, and from the moment you touch down, the concrete jungle you wondered at from your plane window will be yours for the taking. After settling into your swish and super-central base, whip out that bucket list and simply get exploring - the city is at your doorstep.

You’ll find NYC’s world-famous landmarks at every turn, from the One World Observatory and 9/11 Memorial to Wall Street highlights like the Federal Hall and New York Stock Exchange. Once you’re done strolling through the sleek Financial District, head up into Soho, whose hip eateries, shops and social scene give off a decidedly edgier vibe. Further north, snap a selfie in Washington Square Park on your way to Midtown, where unmissable sights like the Empire State Building, Flatiron Building and the glamorous Chelsea neighbourhood beckon. Theatre fans should make a beeline for Broadway, while the elegant Upper East Side is home to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Frick Collection, and the beacons of luxury clustered around Central Park - think glittering avenues, high-end department stores and five-star hotels. Days 4-10: Cancun, Mexico

On day four, you’ll be jetting off to Cancun to unwind after your whirlwind city stay. Trade cosmopolitan pursuits for the eponymous cocktail as you kick back by the pool, or saunter down to the beach to sample the Yucatan Peninsula’s world-renowned turquoise waters and pristine sandy stretches. If you’re up for an adventure, discover the colourful world beneath the waves with a spot of snorkelling or scuba diving, or slice across the sea with a selection of thrilling water sports.

Get your culture fix with a trip to Cancun’s ancient ruins, or make a day-trip to Tulum or Chichén-Itzá to see Mexico’s most famous Mayan relics. Enjoy swoon-worthy sunsets every evening, and for an immersive experience of the region’s stunning natural scenery, head to a nearby nature reserve like Xel-Há or Isla Contoy - expect lush tropical forests, swimmable lagoons, scenic trails and breathtaking wildlife. And if your NYC stint leaves you yearning for that sleepless social buzz, Cancun’s upscale restaurants, bars and nightlife scene will have plenty to tempt you.

Day 15: Homeward bound

After your action-packed Big Apple adventures and all-inclusive Cancun escape, it’s time to head to the airport for your return flight home.
