Day 1-5: Cape Town, South Africa
You'll start your adventure in South Africa's urban heart – Cape Town. From your wonderfully-located base, you've plenty of time to explore this fascinating city – marvel at Table Mountain's epic beauty with a tireless day of hiking, or head over to the V&A Waterfront for a more chilled-out day of harbourside attractions and eateries. Top off your time here by taking a trip out to South Africa's wonderful winelands, for a thrilling day that spans stunning vineyards and out-of-this-world landscapes.
Day 6-7: Blue Train, Cape Town to Pretoria, South Africa
Next you'll hop aboard the Blue Train – an icon of age-old travel – on which you'll step back in time for an unforgettable two-night ride. There’s no better way to weave through the Rainbow Nation's majestic landscapes than onboard a luxurious sleeper train, making your way through the vineyard-cloaked slopes of the Winelands, carving through jagged mountain ranges, and meandering past the eerie barren sprawl of the Great Karoo. For some added interest, you’ll also visit an open-air mine museum at Kimberley, a place that’s primarily known as being the site of a diamond museum in the 19th century.
Day 8: Pretoria, South Africa
Your rail journey ends in Pretoria, where you'll settle down for a night at Ivory Manor Boutique Hotel, a lovely base filled with historic features, a calm atmosphere and flawless hospitality. Spend your time here unwinding and recharging your batteries – or, if you have energy to spare, seek out the city's landmark government buildings and tour its lush botanical gardens.
Day 9-11: Pilanesberg National Park, South Africa
Located in the heart of Pilanesberg National Park, your base offers a beautiful vantage point from which to drink in the spectacular South African scenery. With two daily game drives during your stay here, you'll get the chance to spot Africa's famous wandering wildlife - think elephants leopards, lions, cheetahs, buffalos, rhinos, hippos, zebra and giraffes in their natural habitat.
