The following optional excursions can be booked in the final booking process.

Excursion to Bai Dinh and Trang An (Day 7):

After breakfast, you'll head to the vast Bai Dinh complex, home to Vietnam’s largest pagoda, 500 La Han statues, and an imposing 10-metre-high, 100-tonne bronze Buddha statue - the biggest in the country. After lunch at a local restaurant, you’ll continue on to Trang An, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and sail past its dreamy valleys, cave complexes and soaring limestone peaks. Nestled amid this magical landscape are the awe-inspiring remains of Hoa Lu, the ancient capital of Vietnam in the 10th and 11th centuries.

Includes English-speaking guide, entrance fees and boat trip in Trang An, transfers, and lunch. This excursion may take place in a group. Please note that you must cover your legs and shoulders when you visit temples and the pagoda.

Guided tour of Hoi An with boat trip to Cam Kim Island (Day 10):

Starting at 9.00am, you'll embark on a guided tour of Hoi An, a historic port town and trading hub for Dutch, Portuguese, Italian, Chinese and Japanese traders. Admire gilded temple statues, iconic pagodas and an intricate 16th-century chapel before heading on to the Sa Huynh Museum to learn about the city’s history. Later on, sail down the Thu Bon river towards Cam Kim Island to see its famous wood carvers and shipbuilders at work, before returning to your hotel to spend the rest of the day on the beach.

Step inside to admire countless colourful dragons, as well as statues of Jesus, Buddha and the Hindu god Brahma standing side by side. Afterwards, you’ll continue on towards the Cu Chi Tunnels, once a multi-level, 250-kilometre network running from Saigon to the Cambodian border. The remaining tunnels offer a unique insight into underground life during the Vietnam War, featuring everything from trapdoors and storage areas to arms factories, hospitals and kitchens.
