Day 1: UK - night on board
Today, board your overnight flight from the UK to Delhi. A riot of colour, noise and activity, there are few more intoxicating destinations on the planet than India. From imperial palaces to chaotic bazaars, this kaleidoscopic country promises an altogether enlightening, humbling and awe-inspiring experience that gets right under your skin.
Day 2: Delhi
Arrive in India's fascinating capital and transfer to your hotel. Spend the rest of your day exploring the city at your leisure. (Meals: breakfast)
Day 3: Delhi - Mandawa
After breakfast, hit the road and head to Mandawa. En route, pass through authentic villages as you enter some of the most rural parts of India. Upon arrival, enjoy a walking tour through the city, and see the incredible art-filled Havelis - mansions noted for their impressive frescoes. (Meals: breakfast)
Day 4: Mandawa - Bikaner
This morning, make tracks to Bikaner Desert Kingdom, a major centre of trade during the 16th century. In the afternoon, visit the spectacular Junagarh Fort, with its impressive interiors. You'll then end the day with a memorable tuk-tuk ride from the ancient city bazaar - a must when in India! (Meals: breakfast)
Day 5: Bikaner - Jaisalmer
Jaisalmer is up next; once an important trading centre for many centuries, it's now one of the few forts that is still inhabited. Whilst here, why not visit the Thar Heritage Museum or the Maharaja's Palace before taking in Tania Tower, the Havelis, Jain Temples or Gadsisar Lake? (Meals: breakfast)
Day 6: Jaisalmer
Today, enjoy a full-day tour of 'The Golden City'. Discover the magical Gadisar Lake and magnificent Golden Fort, gaze at the famous palatial houses, and then spend the afternoon in Sam to watch the sunset over the beautiful dunes. (Meals: breakfast)
Day 7: Jaisalmer - Jodhpur
After breakfast, you’ll move on to Jodphur, known as ‘The Blue City’, where you can enjoy a visit to the impressive Mehrangarh Fort which boasts a bird’s eye view of the old city. Later, continue on to Jaswant Thada, an imposing marble cenotaph. (Meals: breakfast)
Day 8: Jodhpur - Jaipur
The alluring ‘Pink City’ of Jaipur is your next stop, embellished with royal heirlooms of past Maharajas, fast-paced Jaipur holds majestic palaces, imposing military forts and exceptional shopping. Spend today at leisure in this vibrant city - be sure to catch the sunset, where the pink and orange buildings will exude a magical glow. (Meals: breakfast)
Day 9: Jaipur
Today you’ll explore the iconic Amber Fort, taking a brief stop at Hawa Mahal, the Palace of the Winds. Take a guided tour around the Amber Fort, then spend the afternoon on a city tour around Jaipur, including Jantar Mantar, the world’s largest marble observatory. (Meals: breakfast)
Day 10: Jaipur - Fathepur Sikri - Agra
Next, it's onwards to Agra. En route, you'll stop off at another UNESCO World Heritage Site, the 16th-century town of Fatehpur Sikri, which was briefly the capital of the Mughal empire with its red sandstone monuments and temples. You’ll also get to marvel at the most famous love memorial in the world, Shahjehan’s white-marble Taj Mahal on an unforgettable tour. (Meals: breakfast)
Day 11: Agra - Delhi
After breakfast at the hotel, return to Delhi by road. After arriving back in the capital, you’ll visit Raj Ghat, where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated, plus the impressive Humayan’s Tomb. (Meals: breakfast)
Day 12: Delhi
Spend the day at leisure in Delhi exploring the city. Why not opt for a full-day tour exploring Delhi's most iconic temples - Lotus Temple, Akshardham Temple, Sikh Temple and Lakshmi Narayan Temple. (Meals: breakfast)
Day 13: Delhi - UK
After breakfast, head to the airport for your flight back to the UK.
