Day 1: UK - Vancouver, Canada

Admire the city skyline as you touch down in Vancouver, the largest city in Canada’s western province of British Columbia. A bustling metropolis framed by soaring mountains and sublime natural scenery, Vancouver is as colourful and culturally diverse as its dazzling surrounding landscape.

After landing, you’ll transfer to your hotel to settle in for an overnight stay. If time permits, get exploring with a visit to the city’s gorgeous green spaces like the VanDusen Botanical Garden and sprawling Stanley Park, or hit the trendy downtown area of Gastown for old-world elegance and a thriving cosmopolitan scene.

Day 2: Vancouver

Today, you'll immerse yourself in North Vancouver’s lush temperate rainforest with an excursion to Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. Prepare to cross the breathtaking 70-metre-high bridge above the Capilano River, and continue through the Treetops Adventure trail to walk across seven suspension bridges high above the forest floor. Elsewhere, brave The Cliffwalk, a heart-stopping walkway along the cliffside of Capilano Canyon some 30 storeys above the river. Later on, visit the Story Centre for interesting exhibits and seasonal entertainment, and round off your West Coast experience by sampling the area’s top-notch shopping and culinary offerings.

If you’re staying for 10 nights, you’ll be sticking around Vancouver the following day, when you’ll embark on an exciting whale watching excursion in the Strait of Georgia. Take in spellbinding views as a professional guide gets you clued-up on the area’s wildlife, from killer whales, humpback whales and porpoises to friendly sea lions, fluffy seals, and majestic bald eagles. Please note that lunch is not included in this excursion.

Day 3: Vancouver - Kamloops

Rise bright and early to board the Rocky Mountaineer train at Vancouver Station, aboard which you’ll head inland towards Kamloops. You’ll witness dramatic changes in scenery along the way, from the rolling green fields of the Fraser Valley and winding river canyons of the Cascade Mountains, to the desert-like environment of the British Columbia Interior. Keep an eye out for the rushing waters of Hell's Gate, as well as the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River. In the evening, you’ll travel along the shores of Kamloops Lake into Kamloops, ready for a night out exploring or relaxing at your hotel.

Day 4: Kamloops - Lake Louise

This morning, you’ll hop back onto the Rocky Mountaineer train at Kamloops Station, ready to soar eastwards to the mighty Canadian Rockies and the province of Alberta. Travel across ranchlands, rocky lakeshores and high mountain passes, as well as remarkable tunnels reminiscent of the area’s rich rail heritage. Highlights include Craigellachie where the last spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven, the thrilling climb over Rogers Pass, the Kicking Horse Canyon and the magical glaciers and snow-capped peaks of the Canadian Rockies. At the end of the day, you’ll arrive in Lake Louise for an overnight stay.

Day 5: Lake Louise - Banff

Few natural landscapes can rival Lake Louise, where the towering Mount Victoria and glacier preside over glistening turquoise waters, framed by the dense pine forests of Banff National Park. A year-round crowd-pleaser, the area is known for everything from hiking and climbing to skiing and canoeing. Take in otherworldly views from your iconic lakefront base, and head out in any direction for once-in-a-lifetime outdoor pursuits. After immersing yourself in your scenic surroundings, a 45-minute journey will take you to Banff for an overnight stay.

Day 6: Banff

Nestled amid the Banff National Park under the watchful gaze of the Rocky Mountains, this beloved resort town is a popular destination for both Albertans and visitors from around the world, and today you’ll have the chance to explore at your leisure. You’ll find pristine nature at every turn, and perhaps even spot the occasional deer, caribou or elk. Stroll through the quaint town centre for cosy vibes and a taste of local living, and discover the eventful history of the Rocky Mountains at the town’s fascinating museums. Don’t miss the Cave and Basin National Historic Site, and be sure to stop by the so-called ‘Castle in the Rockies’ - an imposing five-star hotel and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 7: Banff - Calgary - UK

Today, you’ll transfer to the airport in Calgary for your flight home, with plenty of Pinterest-worthy snaps to show for your travels.
