Days 1-2: Prague, Czechia

Steeped in history, the so-called ‘City of a Hundred Spires’ is as dreamy as it sounds. Days 3-4: Vienna, Austria

Oozing old-world elegance and imperial splendour, Vienna is undoubtedly one of Europe’s most beautiful cities, and serves up culture and cosmopolitan thrills in spades. Start by exploring the enchanting Inner City, where high-end shopping hotspots like Kärntner Straße and the Graben brush shoulders with city landmarks like the Wiener Staatsoper, Stephansdom Cathedral and imposing Hofburg Palace. Art lovers shouldn’t miss the Albertina, Belvedere, Klimt and Kunsthistorisches museums, while bookworms will want to make a beeline for the Austrian National Library. For more hip, urban vibes, Vienna’s Neubau district is the place to go, while further out the Vienna Woods and stunning Schönbrunn Palace are perfect for a scenic day out. The easiest way to take it all in? Soar up Austria’s tallest building with an optional skip-the-line ticket to the Danube Tower, where in just 35 seconds you’ll be whisked up to a panoramic open-air platform for unbeatable views of the city.

Days 5-6: Budapest, Hungary

Formerly two cities separated by the rushing Danube river, the dazzling Hungarian capital is a cultural melting-pot with a rich and eventful history, and you’ll find no shortage of things to do. The best place to start is the nearby Buda Castle District, a jaw-dropping fortress dating back to the 13th century that now houses the former Royal Palace, National Gallery, Széchényi Library and more. Home to a total of eight museums and a range of impressive churches and monuments, you’ll find everything from art masterpieces to labyrinthine underground tunnels, with a sprinkling of local eateries to refuel between visits. Cross the river to stroll down the elegant Andrássy Avenue, passing by the State Opera and thought-provoking House of Terror museum. Don't miss the sprawling City Park and fairytale Vajdahunyad Castle, as well as the Central Market Hall, St Stephen's Basilica and striking neo-Gothic Parliament building.
