A beautiful Moroccan riad-turned-hotel with a pool and hammam, located in the historic Medina near Marrakech’s top sights - includes breakfast and an optional suite

  • Flavours of Morocco: If you’re after authentic Moroccan cuisine then look no further than Riad Melhoun’s very own restaurant. Take a seat on the terrace or patio and treat yourself to a delicious lunch or dinner, where fabulous flavours will burst through in local dishes like couscous royale, mechoui and tajine, all crafted with the freshest ingredients. The hotel also serves up a hearty breakfast so you can fuel up before heading out to explore.

  • Riad relaxation: The peaceful central patio of the hotel is the perfect spot to spend a few quiet hours; relax in a comfy armchair or dip your toes in the sparkling, blue-tiled pool. For a truly rejuvenating experience, head to the hotel’s hammam and let all your worries melt away amidst the fragrant steam, or indulge in a soothing argan oil or hot stone massage. Then you can retire to your opulent room, where rich colours, bold Moroccan patterns and traditional design elements combine to create the sumptuous setting for a superb night’s sleep.

  • Historic heart of the city: The hotel is located in the lively Medina of Marrakesh, a maze of cobblestone streets lined with souks and hammams and dotted with impressive monuments from the 11th and 12th centuries. You’re just a five-minute walk from gorgeous Bahia Palace, 20 minutes from the soaring minaret of Koutoubia Mosque and 10 minutes from Jemaa el-Fnaa, the main market square that comes alive at night with snake charmers, folk dancers, and street food vendors.

How to get there

The hotel is a 20 to 30-minute drive from Marrakesh Menara Airport. Alternatively, an airport shuttle bus runs between the airport and the main square of Jemaa el-Fnaa, just a 10-minute walk from the hotel.

Entry requirements

The passport, visa and health requirements at the time of booking can be viewed on the Foreign and Commonwealth Office website for UK citizens, and on the Department of Foreign Affairs website for IE citizens. It is your responsibility to ensure that you and all members of your party are in possession of all necessary travel and health documents, and in compliance with any other immigration/entry requirements before you travel, including whether your passport must be machine readable or which visas/waivers may be required for entry, such as ESTA for USA travel and/or ETIAS for EU travel. Please also be sure to check the validity of your passport and allow up to 10 weeks for passport renewals.

Marrakech

At the heart of Marrakech, the Medina occupies what was once the city’s fortified citadel; today, the whole area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wandering along these winding streets, you’ll spot centuries-old mosques and stunning palaces tucked between bustling souks touting spices and textiles. Be sure to check out the Saadian Tombs, a lavish 17th century tomb complex with ornate carvings and beautiful zellij tiling. The riad gardens, intricate mosaic floors and colourful Grand Courtyard of Bahia Palace are also worth a visit.

All visitors to Marrakech must make a stop at Jemaa el-Fnaa, the main market square. Music fills the air as tourists and locals gather at the vibrant centre of the city; this is the place to go for local delicacies, street performers and souvenirs. Rising above the square is the majestic minaret of Koutoubia Mosque, the largest mosque in the city. Although non-Muslims can’t go inside, be sure to grab a picture from below. As night falls, get a drink or a bite to eat from one of the rooftop bars that look down over the square to get a bird’s eye view of the action.
