A beguiling escape between three charismatic capitals of the Baltic Sea and Scandinavia - includes breakfast and all travel with an overnight ferry

Helsinki, Finland

Helsinki sits on the harbour-side and, as such, shares much of its water-veined lands with the Baltic; it's this unique interplay between land and sea that gives the city a distinct edge. It's a city teeming with restaurants and bars, historic buildings, and innovative architecture that mixes everything from Art Nouveau and neo-Renaissance to modernist and neoclassical styles into its impressive visual tapestry. Not to be missed is the UNESCO World Heritage site of Suomenlinna (an 18th-century sea fortress that, today, houses a museum and brewery), as well as Senate Square. Then there's the turquoise-towers of Upenski Cathedral, the Museum of Contemporary Art, and The Old Market Hall food market.

Tallinn, Estonia

Set your sights on the medieval enclave of Estonia's capital Tallinn, where the UNESCO-listed Old Town takes pride of place. One of Europe’s most complete walled cities, its fairy-tale feel is helped along by medieval streets, ancient churches, and grand merchants’ houses. Get to know the city on a bus tour, taking you past the Kadriorg Palace and the Song Festival Grounds to the Pirita district. Proceed on foot through the Old Town, stopping at the Parliament Building, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the Dome Church and a scenic viewpoint before heading back down to the Gothic Town Hall Square. Then catch the sun set over the city from Toompea hill.

Stockholm, Sweden

Sweden’s capital is a treasure trove of history, culture, fashion and food, ticking all the boxes for a great city stop. Must-sees include the riverside Royal Palace, the opulent home of the King of Sweden, and Gamla Stan, the historic old town - one of the best-preserved Medieval cities in Europe. Stockholm is home to over 100 museums, including the open-air Skansen museum which showcases traditional Swedish buildings, the Vasa Museum, a warship salvaged from the seabed and revamped into a building, and, of course, the ABBA Museum, which pays homage to Sweden’s musical legends.
