Bangkok
You’ll begin your tantalising Thai getaway in the country’s cosmopolitan capital. Brimming with energy, Bangkok has some of the most impressive bars and restaurants in Asia, as well as a grand palace and supersized temples. Zip between gilded landmarks and modern malls by tuk-tuk, pick up exotic produce at a floating market and sample the city’s legendary street food. If you find yourself wanting to dive into the cultural side of the city, then seeking out the Grand Palace will get you in the mood to seek out further thrills. Be sure to visit the many temples that line the riverside; Wat Phra Kaew, also known as the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, is one of the most iconic, but Wat Pho, with its 46-metre-long reclining Buddha, is a must-visit too.
Krabi
With swathes of immaculate golden beaches, vibrant turquoise waters and dramatic kirsts rising out of the sea, Krabi is one picture-perfect stay. While it could be tempting to lay by the beach, cocktail in hand and let the warm breeze wash over you, make some time for temple-hunting and exploring. Wat Tham Seua is under 10 kilometres away from Krabi Town, and is an impressive temple complex perched high on a karst peak - climbing the 1,200 steps is not for the faint-hearted. You’ll certainly have earned yourself a feast back at your resort (and perhaps a spa treatment or two).
Khao Lak
The final five or seven nights of your Thai escapade will be spent at the beachfront paradise of Grand Mercure Khao Lak, where you can take advantage of the luxe spa and opt for a Thai massage or a herbal steam. A nod to Thailand’s riverside villages, this luxe resort serves up Andaman sea views with every step, seafront swimming pools and multiple delectable dining options. The dreamy beaches of Khao Lak are plentiful, and if you want to venture away from the hotel, boat trips and beaches abound for exploring.
