Enjoy a beautiful Dodecanese island-hopping trip to Kos and Rhodes, with an optional Symi stay - includes all travel and breakfast

Imagine unwinding on a sun-drenched Greek island, your worries melting away like butter on warm bread. This dream vacation becomes reality in the Dodecanese archipelago, a stunning chain of islands in the sparkling Aegean Sea. Your adventure begins on either Kos, the third-largest island renowned for its natural beauty, or Rhodes, the largest island boasting rich history and vibrant culture. Dodecanese, meaning 'twelve islands' in Greek, might surprise you – it actually encompasses 163 islands and islets! For those seeking an extended escape (10 nights or more), a delightful sojourn on the postcard-perfect island of Symi awaits. Nestled between Rhodes and Kos, Symi will leave you breathless with its personality and picture-perfect charm.

Kos isn't just a beach lover's paradise – it's a treasure trove of history waiting to be unearthed. Stroll along magical coastlines, then delve into the past at impressive castles, or soak in natural thermal springs. Kos even holds a special place in medicine, being the birthplace of Hippocrates, the 'father of modern medicine' - explore the archaeological wonders of the Asklepieion and discover the roots of medical practice. Prepare to be dazzled by Rhodes too, the crown jewel of the Dodecanese. Sun-drenched beaches with turquoise waters beckon for relaxation, while ancient temples and medieval cities whisper tales of a bygone era. Nature enthusiasts will be captivated by Butterfly Valley, a haven for colourful endemic butterflies fluttering along a scenic stream. History buffs can explore numerous museums, towering castles, and over 35 churches, all set against a backdrop of breathtaking natural beauty.

Beyond the usual tourist crowds lies Symi, a Greek island bursting with charm. Unlike its larger neighbours, Symi offers a more tranquil escape. But don't be fooled by its size – Symi stuns with its picturesque beauty. Picture vivid neoclassical houses cascading down a hillside, creating a scene straight out of a postcard. Don't forget your camera – Symi is a treasure waiting to be captured!

Optional Excursions

If you’d like to make your trip even more unforgettable, you can also book the following optional excursions. These excursions can be selected in the booking process. Please note that all excursions depart from Kos and are scheduled for a full day. To book all three excursions instead of just one or two, you must stay at least four nights on Kos as part of your trip.

Three-island cruise tour

Explore three beautiful islands on a magical boat trip. Board your wooden vessel and set sail for Vathi on Kalymnos. Here, a natural “fjord” twinkles with emerald waters and traditional tavernas line the shore. Take a refreshing dive off the pier into the crystalline sea, then board the boat again for the journey to your next stop: the islet of Plati. On this short stop you’ll have time to swim in the waters around the boat and paddle to the uninhabited island, where you can comb the shores for pretty shells. On the third stop, Pserimos, you can walk from the port to the beach and wander between local stalls selling sponges, spices and other souvenirs. Sip a Greek coffee by the sea or walk to the idyllic island church and beautiful viewpoint. Take one last swim, and return to Kos. Keep your eyes peeled - you might even see some dolphins!

Nisyros Volcano Island excursion

Only one hour from the port of Kardameina, Nisyros is a unique getaway. Although it belongs to the Dodecanese, Nisyros resembles the Cyclades with its whitewashed beauty, and ancient eruptions of the sleeping-yet active volcano have created a lunar-like landscape. Discovering the Stefanos Crater, one of the biggest hydrothermal craters in the world at 300 metres in diameter, will be an unforgettable experience for adventure seekers. Later, head to Mandraki, the capital of the island, where you can stroll the narrow streets and take photos between the white Nisyrian houses, colourful doors and cobbled streets. A short walk will take you to the highest spot of Mandraki, the Monastery of Panagia Spiliani, where you can enjoy panoramic views.

Day trip to Bodrum, Turkey

Tick another country off your list and make the easy 30-minute journey from the port of Kos to Bodrum, Turkey. After passing through customs, you’ll be free to explore the city as you wish. Known in ancient times as Halicarnassus, Bodrum was one of the most important cities of antiquity and remained an important sea port for centuries. Dive into the city’s impressive history with visits to the castle, the stunning Ancient Greek theatre, the Museum of Underwater Antiquities and the ruins of the Mausoleum of Halicanassus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. History not your thing? Wander the narrow streets and sample local cuisine: try a Turkish coffee, enjoy an authentic kebab or treat yourself to some kazandibi, one of the most popular Turkish treats.
