Wismar
Just moments away from the hotel, the historic harbour of Wismar has remained much the same since the 13th century. The charming harbour hosts the Wismar Harbour Festival at the beginning of June each year, but it’s perfect for picturesque waterside strolls all year round. Stop by the Wassertor, a brickwork tower that dates from the 15th century and looks out over the harbour; it was also a filming location for the classic 1922 film Nosferatu - The Vampire. The Old Town is just a short walk away and boasts the title of UNESCO World Heritage Site for its history as a major trade centre. Wander the historic streets lined with pretty pastel buildings between top sights like the striking Alter Schwede - the oldest building in the city - and the towering church of St Mary. If you’re looking for some sandy shores to stroll, Wismar Strand is just a 10-minute drive away.
