How to get there
STEIGER Hotel Rathener Hof is on the banks of the River Elbe, in the German town of Rathen.
Dresden Airport is about an hour away by car. If you're driving, look for Bahnhof Rathen (Rathen Station) in your navigation system, where parking is available on the Oberrathen side of the river (cars are only allowed on the Niederrathen side by special permit). From the train station, hop on the ferry at the nearby pier for a few minutes, and once you arrive the hotel will be 250m away.

Rathen
The first thing you'll think when you arrive at Rathen is that, without a shadow of a doubt, it belongs on a postcard. The colourful town is divided in two by the mighty Elbe, but seeing both halves is a cinch with a handy ferry to bridge the gap. If hiking’s your thing, you couldn’t hope for a better place to come than here; the rocky landscape creates an abundance of impressive beauty spots, including Neurathen Castle, Talwächter, Wartturmm Wiese vor den Feldsteinen, Honigsteine, Basteiaussicht, and of course Bastion Bridge.
For anyone who gets their kicks from city streets instead, Dresen is easily reachable by car, taking only an hour to drive there. Once heavily impacted by the force of World War Two, Dresden is a beautiful city that’ll soon whisk you back in time. It’s not hard to see why it’s earned the nickname of 'jewel box' - as a former residence, you’ll spot ornate, Baroque architecture everywhere, from the famous Frauenkirche Church, painstakingly reconstructed after the war, and the palatial Zwinger complex, home to some fascinating museum collections.
