Optional excursions

The following excursions can be added in the final booking process.

• Arctic fjord cruise in Tromsø •

All aboard for an incredible cruise experience. Setting off in Tromsø, you’ll explore the stunning Ramfjord - a scenic fjord that’s as rich in history as it is in marine life - before cruising on to an old fishing facility on the island of Kvaløya. Enjoy the spectacular views, then delve into the past, learning about the importance of the fishing industry in Norway’s history. The knowledgeable guides will share centuries of tradition with you and explain how the fish goes from fjord to plate; you’ll then be able to try a taste of the very product that has been made here for generations. Please note, this excursion is not available between 25 October and 31 January.

• King crab experience in Tromsø •

This is a culinary experience you won’t soon forget - the opportunity to sample some of the freshest and most luxurious seafood there is. King crabs are flown in daily from the Barents Sea and cooked right in front of you as you’re regaled with tales of how they make their way from the Kamchatka Peninsula in the far east all the way to Kirkenes in the very north of Norway. The freshly-cooked crab legs are served up with bread, butter, lemons and mayonnaise - all you need to let the mouthwatering flavours shine through.

• Aurora safari minibus in Tromsø •

Join a tour from Tromsø and chase down the amazing Northern Lights. As your small group waits for the magical lights to appear, your guide will explain the natural phenomenon and share stories of life in the Arctic. You’ll keep warm with a hot drink, a light meal and local snack, and if weather allows, your guide will light a bonfire. They’ll also take pictures for you so that you have a souvenir of your enchanting experience. Please note, this excursion is not available year round as the Northern Lights are only visible in winter.
