  • Stylish setting: Located just a stone’s throw from York’s historic centre, DoubleTree by Hilton York is situated in one of England’s most beautiful cities. Besides its great location, the hotel also boasts chic interiors, views of the city’s historic limestone walls, and guest rooms kitted out with everything you could possibly need for an unforgettable stay.

  • Yorkshire yearnings: If you’re looking to sample some of the region’s best produce, look no further than The Yorkshire Bar and Grill. The hotel’s restaurant enjoys a relaxed ambience and serves delicious dishes using seasonal ingredients. Start your morning with a fresh breakfast, enjoy a drink at the bar, and tuck into scrumptious home-cooked fare in the courtyard during the warmer months.

  • In the heart of the city: When you’re not admiring the views or working up a sweat at the hotel’s fitness centre, make sure you spend every spare moment exploring the many hidden gems of York. Discover a warren of cobblestone streets lined with pretty antique shops and cosy cafés, before taking a tour of the city to uncover intriguing stories from the region’s past.

How to get there

It takes around two hours by train to reach York from London, and York Station offers great transport links to other major cities such as Liverpool, Manchester, Reading, Newcastle, Edinburgh and more. The station is just a 20-minute walk or a 10-minute drive from the hotel. If you’re arriving by car, take the M1 and head towards York.

Entry requirements

The passport, visa and health requirements at the time of booking can be viewed on the Foreign and Commonwealth Office website for UK citizens, and on the Department of Foreign Affairs website for IE citizens. It is your responsibility to ensure that you and all members of your party are in possession of all necessary travel and health documents, and in compliance with any other immigration/entry requirements before you travel, including whether your passport must be machine readable or which visas/waivers may be required for entry, such as ESTA for USA travel and/or ETIAS for EU travel. Please also be sure to check the validity of your passport and allow up to 10 weeks for passport renewals.

York

Immerse yourself in the historic heart of York and start your day with a short walk into the centre. Marvel at the city’s 13th-century Gothic cathedral of York Minster, taking in its impressive medieval stained glass windows and working bell towers, before stopping to admire the grounds of Dean’s park - a popular picnic spot in spring and summer. Walk alongside the City Walls, admire the views of the River Ouse, make yourself at home in one of the many quaint cafés, and if you’re feeling brave - book an evening ghost tour of the city.

Nicknamed ‘God’s own country’ Yorkshire also boasts some of the country’s best pastoral scenes. If you travel just over an hour from the hotel, you’ll come to the rolling moorland countryside of Nidderdale, Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - which borders the many valleys and villages of the Yorkshire Dales National Park to the east and south.
