Explore one of the Netherlands’ less-visited gems from a bright and welcoming hotel near the central station - includes breakfast and late check-out

  • Cool and comfort: At Hotel VIC in Leiden, you can expect hip, contemporary design with pops of colour and modern décor. Guest rooms are similarly kitted out, with chic furnishings and metallic accents. You’ll also find plenty of mod cons to make your stay ultra-comfortable, including a smart TV, a Nespresso machine and a rain shower.

  • Fuel for the road: Itching to get out and explore? The hotel has you covered with their convenient Grab & Go minimarket, which stocks on-the-go snacks and plenty of other quick and easy meal options, so you’ll be hitting the streets in no time. Of course, you can always kick back in the colourful lounge area with a cup of coffee if you prefer to take things slow.

  • City slicking: With a great location in the heart of Leiden, just steps from the central train station, the city is at your beck and call. Explore top attractions in this less tourist-frequented city - like the centuries-old Pieterskerk and the picturesque Molen de Put windmill - or hop on a train and be in buzzing Amsterdam, harbourside Rotterdam or The Hague in 30 minutes or less.

How to get there

The hotel is located less than a five-minute walk from Leiden Centraal, the city’s main train station. It’s a 30 to 45-minute drive from Rotterdam The Hague Airport to the hotel, or about 30 minutes from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. Trains from Amsterdam and Rotterdam central stations to Leiden will take roughly 35 minutes.

Good to know

Please note that this is a cashless hotel.

Leiden

With waterways, windmills and plenty of history, Leiden has all the draws of Amsterdam without the crowds. A walking tour through the city is sure to take you past all the notable buildings, like the Netherlands’ oldest university and the 900-year old church. Hop on a boat tour and cruise the canals to see the city from a different point of view, or wander the cobbled back streets in search of a cute café where you can while away an hour or two as you sip coffee and people-watch.

Those with a thirst for knowledge can flit around the city’s unique collection of museums - from an immersive journey through the human body at CORPUS to Museum Volkenkunde’s vast collection of impressive objects from all over the world. If you prefer to take a more relaxed approach, consider a stroll through the Saturday markets or around the atmospheric Hortus Botanicus, the oldest botanical garden in the Netherlands.
