Stay at an authentic alpine retreat with cosy interiors, views of the Hochstadel, and a breathtaking location immersed in nature - includes breakfast, four-course dinner and more

  • Natural alpine paradise: Located near the idyllic village of Irschen and surrounded by the jaw-dropping serenity of the Carinthian Mountains, Naturhotel Landhof Irschen is both a cosy hiking hotel and a nature lover’s dream. With a small group of tastefully-furnished rooms all boasting home-from-home comforts and breathtaking balcony views of the alpine scenery, it’s easy to feel like part of a fairytale. With no time to waste, head out into the surrounding landscape and create memories to last a lifetime.

  • Endless culinary enjoyment: Indulge your senses each morning with a delicious selection of cheeses, ham, salami, sweet jams, organic cereal, homemade teas and fruit juices. After a long day of outdoor exploration, return to the cosy ambience of the hotel restaurant for hand-picked four-course menus and refined regional wines recommended by the in-house sommelier.

  • Nature-meets-wellness: Whether you’re soaking up the sun from the plateau lawn, taking a dip in the natural swimming pond, or unwinding in the time-out garden, wellness and nature are combined to create a calming sense of peace. The fragrant Irschner mountain herbs also play a major role at the hotel’s spa, and you can feel the effects in the herbal bath room, Finnish dry sauna, infrared cabin, and herbal sanarium. You could even indulge in a massage or treatment with a range of herbal oils (fees apply), before sipping on a cup of Irschner herbal tea from the panoramic relaxation room.

How to get there

Klagenfurt Airport is an hour and a half from the hotel, while Innsbruck International Airport is approximately three hours away by car. You could also arrive by train to the Irschen or Oberdrauburg station before organising a transfer to the hotel (for a fee, only upon request a few days before your arrival).

Good to know

Please note that the hotel can only arrange transfers from the train station until 5.15pm. Transport via local taxis are encouraged after this point.

Spittal an der Drau District

Surrounded by verdant forests, idyllic alpine meadows and stunning Carinthian mountain scenery, the Naturhotel Landhof Irschen lies at the edge of the tranquil herb village of Irschen. This small but heavenly hiking hotel covers 15,000 square metres of alpine paradise and is the perfect place for switching off amid scenes of unspoilt natural beauty. From guided tours of the local area, canyoning, gorge climbing, canoeing or even paragliding in the Oberdrautal outdoor park, there’s something to suit every level of ability. If you prefer to take in the scenery on foot, you can admire the wonderful mountain views whilst hiking between the Lienz Dolomites and the shimmering Carinthian bathing lakes.

In winter, Irschen’s location in the upper Drautal also presents itself as an absolute outdoor paradise. With the option to go on snowshoe hikes, carriage rides, ski tours, tobogganing and ice skating, you’re guaranteed to see the Carinthian region through an entirely new perspective. One particular highlight is a visit to the wintry Weissensee, which is the largest constantly freezing natural ice area in Europe. Here, you’ll find ice athletes of every discipline, as well as horse-drawn sleighs which ride around the lake.
