Discover the natural beauty of the Harz and soothing wellness in the Kneipp spa town of Bad Lauterberg – including breakfast, spa access, optional sparkling wine and more
-
Active variety: Once a historic mining town, Bad Lauterberg is now a renowned Kneipp spa nestled among the mountains of the Harz National Park. The nearby Oderstausee is ideal for water sports, complemented by well-maintained hiking trails and mountain bike routes. In winter, the surrounding ski areas—such as Braunlage-Wurmberg just 10 kilometres away—invite you to enjoy outdoor activities amidst a snowy landscape.
-
A taste for excellence: Indulge your palate at the hotel's diverse dining venues, including Gerards, a true workshop for culinary delicacies. For a more relaxed afternoon, head to the Sonnenwinkel lounge to enjoy coffee and cake, while the Anno 56 bar provides a cosy setting for a nightcap, offering everything from creative cocktails and fine wines to chilled beers.
-
All-round pampering: Dedicate your day to pure relaxation at the OderSpa, which features two pools and a comprehensive sauna landscape. It is the perfect place to unwind and recharge your senses. For an even deeper sense of well-being, you can treat yourself to individually tailored beauty treatments, vitalising baths, or invigorating massages (treatments available for an additional fee).
How to get there
The hotel is accessible in less than two hours by car from both Hanover and Leipzig, including their respective airports. The nearest train station is located in Herzberg, approximately 11 kilometres away. From Herzberg, several bus lines run regularly to the Postplatz stop, which is situated close to the resort.
Entry requirements
The passport, visa and health requirements at the time of booking can be viewed on the Foreign and Commonwealth Office website for UK citizens, and on the Department of Foreign Affairs website for IE citizens. It is your responsibility to ensure that you and all members of your party are in possession of all necessary travel and health documents, and in compliance with any other immigration/entry requirements before you travel, including whether your passport must be machine readable or which visas/waivers may be required for entry, such as ESTA for USA travel and/or ETIAS for EU travel. Please also be sure to check the validity of your passport and allow up to 10 weeks for passport renewals.
Bad Lauterberg
The picturesque landscape of the Harz National Park offers idyllic forests, moors, and rivers, all of which can be explored on extensive and relaxing hikes. During your stay, consider visiting the Einhornhöhle (Unicorn Cave), the largest accessible cave in the Western Harz. For a classic experience, you can conquer the legendary Brocken peak either on foot or by riding the historic Harz Narrow Gauge Railway.
Winter sports enthusiasts will also find plenty to enjoy in the region. The Braunlage-Wurmberg ski area is just 10 kilometres away, allowing you to glide down the slopes surrounded by magnificent nature.
