Embrace the magic of Sicily with a fabulous east coast escape, including all travel, a 'Godfather' tour, cannoli tasting and optional excursions
Day 1-2: UK to Sicily
Touch down in sunny Sicily and transfer to your hotel, then head out to explore the area and get the lay of the land, preparing for your exciting adventure.
On the following day you’ll have the option of a boat trip along the coast, exploring the beautiful bays, hidden caves and sparkling blue waters around Giardini Naxos and Taormina. Enjoy a dip with your snorkel amidst the colourful shoals of fish, then hop back onboard for a tasty aperitif.
Day 3: Savoca and Forza d’Agro
Today, dive deep into Sicilian mafia lore with a guided day trip to two small villages used as filming locations for the iconic movie, The Godfather. Visit Vitelli Bar, the Church of Santa Lucia and other hotspots as you learn about the island’s mafia history, before enjoying a delicious lunch and a glass of wine at a local restaurant.
Day 4: Mount Etna
You have today at your leisure, with the option of a thrilling excursion to volcanic Mount Etna. With its mesmerising lunar landscape and incredible views, the mountain attracts tourists not just in summer, but also in winter when it turns into a well-equipped ski destination.
Day 5: Catania and cannoli tasting
Today, why not make a visit to Catania to explore the city’s historic centre, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2002? Admire the Baroque architecture and perhaps indulge in a bit of boutique shopping before heading to Giardini Naxos for a cannoli tasting, where you can savour the authentic flavours of this traditional Sicilian dessert.
Day 6-7 (optional): At leisure
You’ll have the next two days at your leisure to lounge around the hotel or explore your stunning surroundings. A visit to the famously-elegant hilltop town of Taormina is a must; admire its ancient ruins and medieval charm before taking a stroll along the pebbled shoreline with a gelato in hand.
Bid goodbye to beautiful Sicily on your final morning and transfer back to the airport for your flight home.
If you are on the five-night tour, you will transfer back to the airport on the morning of day 6.
