Just under four kilometres from the hotel, the picturesque Großsee lake can be reached via a hiking trail and, in summer, its wide, fine sandy beach is perfect for swimming. Cottbus, a good 20 kilometres away, boasts over 2,000 years of history around its elaborately reconstructed Old Market Square and is considered the cultural centre of the Sorbs.

The Spreewald waterways are also nearby – get active in the biosphere reserve with boat trips and hikes, or visit the spa town of Burg. In addition, many other attractions, such as Branitz Castle in Cottbus, the Slavic fortress of Raddusch, and the local history museum in Dissen, bear witness to the region's rich historical heritage.

Whether you prefer cycling, paddling along the winding waterways, or taking a leisurely guided boat tour, nature lovers will find plenty to enjoy in the Spreewald. An excellent network of cycle paths invites you to explore the Lusatian Lake District using the hotel's rental bikes (fees apply). The Tour Brandenburg cycle route – at 1,111 kilometres, Germany's longest long-distance cycle route – passes directly by the hotel.

• Wellness program: The hotel's cosy spa area awaits you with massages, a Turkish hammam, and beauty treatments (fees apply), as well as four saunas and an indoor pool with a crackling fireplace. The outdoor pool offers a refreshing dip. In the fitness area, you can work out on the equipment or in the exercise room, while the competition-standard bowling lanes and the billiard room guarantee a change of pace.

How to get there

The nearest train station, Jänschwalde, is approximately 6 kilometres from the hotel, which can be reached by bus. Upon request, the hotel offers its own shuttle service to/from Jänschwalde train station (subject to availability, fees apply). There are also good bus connections from Cottbus Central Station, which is just under 20 kilometres away. From the Tauer Mitte bus stop, it's only about a 300 metres walk to the hotel.

Please note that the restaurant is closed on Sundays after breakfast, and hot meals are only available until 2:30pm on Sundays.
