Located in Jena in east-central Germany, Fair Resort Hotel Jena is about 45 minutes’ drive from Erfurt-Weimar Airport, and about an hour’s drive from Leipzig/Halle Airport. For maximum convenience, we recommend hiring a car to reach the hotel and explore at ease.

A breezy 15-minute drive will take you to the centre of Jena, the second-largest city in Germany’s Thuringia region and a veritable melting-pot of history, culture and science. Dating back to at least the ninth century, this beautiful city has long been a hub for learning and innovation, and boasts a famous Optical Museum, the renowned Zeiss Planetarium, and a university founded in the 16th century. Despite suffering significant damage in World War II, the city retains many impressive relics of its past, from its 14th-century town hall and 15th-century St Michael’s Church to remnants of medieval fortifications. As you stroll through Jena’s storied streets, be sure to stop by Schiller’s Garden House, the home of the famed Romantic poet.
The surrounding area offers plenty of country pursuits, too - lace up your boots and hike up to the Napoleon Stone, where Napoleon himself planned a great battle against the Prussian Army. If you’re feeling ambitious, you can hike all the way from there to the enchanting Leuchtenburg Castle, a medieval fortress nestled on a hilltop with spellbinding panoramic views. Not up to it?
