Escape to a charming hotel in peaceful Denbighshire, in rural Wales - includes breakfast and dinner credit
-
Warm and welcoming retreat:Topping the charts for Llangollen's B&Bs on Tripadvisor and flaunting a Travellers' Choice 2020 award, The Mulberry Inn is located in the quiet Welsh setting of Llwynmawr village, in the lush Ceiriog Valley. Behind its ivy-clad façade, the inn is a retreat in itself, featuring faultless, personable service and heaps of character.
-
Top-notch Welsh breakfast:Enjoy a hot breakfast freshly cooked to order, whether it be pancakes and berries, porridge with whisky or smoked salmon and eggs. Return later on for a hearty dinner accompanied by a glass of fine wine in the Garden Room restaurant, then head to the landscaped garden or, later in the year, take a seat by the log fire in the cosy Pheasant Bar.
-
Peaceful night's sleep:Rooms are intimate, bright and smartly decorated in a classic style. After a day of exploring the great outdoors, get comfy in your robe and slippers and prepare for a good night's sleep. All rooms feature a private en-suite with a shower; for the added luxury of a bathtub, opt for a King, Deluxe or Superior room. Deluxe and Superior rooms also boast pretty valley and garden views, whilst King rooms look out over the village and the mountains.
How to get there
The hotel is a little out of the way, so be sure to use the directions given on their website.
Always head for Chirk, not Llangollen, and do not rely on your sat nav. From Chirk, take the B4500 along the Ceiriog Valley, through Pontfadog and on to Dolywern. At Dolywern, after you see the Leonard Cheshire Home, turn left for Llwynmawr – The Mulberry Inn is at the end of the village. Please note that at no stage of your journey should you be on a road that is not wide enough for two cars.
Entry requirements
The passport, visa and health requirements at the time of booking can be viewed on the Foreign and Commonwealth Office website for UK citizens, and on the Department of Foreign Affairs website for IE citizens. It is your responsibility to ensure that you and all members of your party are in possession of all necessary travel and health documents, and in compliance with any other immigration/entry requirements before you travel, including whether your passport must be machine readable or which visas/waivers may be required for entry, such as ESTA for USA travel and/or ETIAS for EU travel. Please also be sure to check the validity of your passport and allow up to 10 weeks for passport renewals.
Wrexham Principal Area
Wales is famed for its rugged coastline, mountainous national parks and Celtic culture, all of which can be appreciated in abundance near Llangollen. Not far from the motorway but with access to natural beauty, The Mulberry Inn is ideally placed to offer superb walks, bike and horse rides across the surrounding countryside. You could while away the hours drinking in the endless valley views, but if you're in the mood for something more active, there's plenty to see and do nearby.
Take a canal boat out in scenic Llangollen and enjoy a great range of restaurants, bars and independent shops. Walk the Edwardian paths of Bellevue Park, visit Wrexham Cathedral and marvel at Erddig Hall, a fascinating National Trust property. Chirk Castle and its gardens are seven kilometres away.
