Day 2: Visit Sigiriya Rock Fortress
After stopping at Ridi Viharaya, continue to Sigiriya Rock Fortress. The impressive fortress is around 180 metres high and is also adorned with fascinating frescoes. The stairs to the top of the rock once led through the mouth of a crouching lion - today only the paws remain.

Day 4: Visit to Dambulla Cave Temple
On day 4, after breakfast, pay a visit to Dambulla Cave Temple en route to Kandy. Incredibly, this UNESCO World Heritage Site dates all the way back to the 1st Century BC. The cave initially served as a refuge for a king who commissioned the impressive wall carvings as soon as he regained the throne. Here the evolution of Sri Lankan art is impressively demonstrated.
Day 4: Visit to the spice gardens in Matale
After your visit to the cave temple, you will continue to the spice gardens in Matale. Here you will find all kinds of different fragrant spices that are used for all kinds of purposes. A guide will show you around and explain the plants and their uses. You can then pick up a few souvenirs in the shop.
Day 4: Kandy city tour with a visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth
Once in Kandy, take a city tour and marvel at the tropical plantations and the wonderful landscape. You'll also visit a gem museum, where you can learn more about the country's jewel heritage. No stay in Kandy would be complete without seeing the famous Temple of the Sacred Tooth. In a two-story shrine, the Buddha's tooth relic is kept on a golden lotus flower in a jewelled box on a throne. Several large elephant tusks watch over the sanctuary.
Day 5: Visit to a tea plantation and factory
Ceylon tea is world famous for its flavour and health benefits. During a visit to a tea plantation and factory, you will experience first hand how the tea is harvested from emerald fields and brought to the factory, where the selection process begins. You will also have the opportunity to try the delicious brew directly.
You can discuss the final start times of the excursions with your driver on site.
