Discover Germany's gorgeous Usedom Island with a pampering Baltic Sea beach and spa stay in Koserow, near the Polish border.

  • Peaceful pools: Koserow's top hotel on Tripadvisor, SEETELHOTEL Nautic Usedom Hotel & Spa is a comforting sanctuary between a peaceful lagoon and a beautiful sandy Baltic Sea beach on Germany's nature-blessed Usedom Island. It's all about recharging body and mind here, with heated indoor and outdoor pools helping things along nicely.

  • Soothing spa: After a day at the beach, or hiking or biking in the surrounding natural park, switch off in the number of saunas and relaxation rooms. For a surcharge, you can bubble away in the couple's Jacuzzi and melt away any strains and stress with a massage from the treatment menu.

  • Island eating: Savour the local speciality of freshly caught fish at Oberdeck restaurant, or choose from other regional and global dishes made supremely with seasonal ingredients. There's an evening menu that changes daily, alongside the à la carte menu. Grab beers at the Sky Sports Bar and get stuck into the range of German sausages and cheese at the applauded breakfast buffet.

How to get there

Berlin Brandenburg International Airport is around 300 kilometres away, just over three hours' drive. By train, the journey takes around four hours: take the airport express train to Berlin Gesundbrunnen and then the ICE 1710 train towards Ostseebad Binz for six stops (around two hours), alighting at Züssow. Take the RB23 train from here to Koserow (11 stops; 50 minutes) and then walk a kilometre to the hotel.

Koserow

Bask in breezy Baltic Sea air, sunshine (over 1,900 hours a year) and natural beauty on Usedom Island, Germany's second-largest island and a unique getaway spot treasured by Germans and neatly shared with Poland. The whole area is in fact Usedom Island Nature Park, with a range of protected terrain ranging from pine tree-covered dunes to lakes and marshy lowland, humming with birdlife and fish and laced with cycle routes. With its delightful 42 kilometres of fine-sand beach backed with greenery and thoughtfully speckled with classic beach chairs and historic pieces of amber occasionally washed ashore, there's space for everyone to unwind.

Your beach resort of Koserow was once a remote fishing village, with its historic huts for salting the fish still standing today. Walk up to the top of Streckelsberg cliff for hiking routes showing off staggering sea views over the coast and out to offshore islands. Koserow sits in a slim spit between the Baltic Sea and Achterwasser, a lagoon perfect for sailing and other watersports, and your hotel is ideally placed between both. Koserow's pier has just been rebuilt so you can safely walk far out over the Baltic Sea for ultimate peace.
