Inhale the salty sea air at a chic seafront spot on Sweden’s coast, north of Mälmo - includes breakfast, optional dinner and more

  • Seaside chic: Sitting right on the seafront of Båstad overlooking the beach and the bay beyond, Hotel Skansen makes quite the stopover for some seaside R&R. Mornings and evenings can be spent watching the waves lap against the shore from the rooftop infinity pool, while daytimes are best passed wandering the charming surrounding town or exploring the Swedish countryside.

  • Whetting your appetite: The Restaurant Sand serves up delicious dishes using fresh seasonal ingredients from Bjäre for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. The excitement carries on into the night with cocktails at the elegant Mr G lounge bar while the Nest provides the perfect spot for drinks in summer. Don’t miss out on a little Swedish Fika, the act of socialising with coffee, on the more casual outdoor terrace space too.

  • Endless relaxation: The spa is a veritable paradise of pampering, with a seemingly endless list of treatments and facilities. Choose between the warmth of multiple saunas and steam rooms, pools and Jacuzzis, plus direct access into the sea at the cold bath house. With relaxation areas to unwind within, a rooftop bar and Elemis treatments - what more do you need?

How to get there

Hotel Skansen is roughly an hour and 30 minutes - 130 kilometres - from Mälmo Airport and two hours and 15 minutes from Gothenburg Airport. Due to the relatively rural location of this hotel, we highly encourage you to hire a car to make the most of the area.

Please be aware that hotel parking is in the harbour. If it is full, there is a large parking lot by the church, while a few places are also available in the hotel's garage; additional fee will apply.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you and all members of your party are in possession of all necessary travel and health documents, and in compliance with any other immigration/entry requirements before you travel, including whether your passport must be machine readable or which visas/waivers may be required for entry, such as ESTA for USA travel and/or ETIAS for EU travel. Båstad

Båstad (pronounced bow-sta) is a charming Swedish coastal town, famous country-wide as a summer resort for locals. It makes up part of what is nicknamed the Swedish Riviera, overlooking Laholmsbukten Bay, with forested hills and nature reserves as a backdrop. Take some time to wander the town and admire the colourful clapboard houses that line the streets, and don’t miss out on a visit to Norrviken Båstad, the beautiful gardens just along the coast.

The best thing to do is hire a car to drive up and down the coast, stopping in at restaurants, cafés and sights en-route. You could drive south to visit the lovely city of Mälmo, about an hour and a half away, or head north and see the sights of Gothenburg, which is only slightly further.
