Southern Aegean
La Ponta Villas sit on the southern tip of the island, in the village of Akrotiri. This part of Santorini is far removed from the whitewashed walls of Fira and Oia, and retains an earthly charm about it. Two kilometres away from the village, you’ll find Santorini’s answer to Pompeii: an archaeological site, where an ancient city was destroyed by the same volcanic eruption that created Santorini's famous caldera. Take in this piece of history with a tour while gazing out at sea towards the caldera, before heading to the remains of the Venetian fortress Goulas, a 10-minute drive from the villas. The island’s capital, Fira, is a 20-minute drive away, where you’ll find all sorts of traditional tavernas, candlelit restaurants and local cafes to while away your time.
