Lengthy history: Blarney Woollen Mills was built in 1923 and made some of Ireland’s best wools and tweeds – it later became a gift shop and then added a hotel. The hotel is built within its old stone walls and much of its character remains; it’s the perfect spot for enjoying a thoroughly Irish escape, with Blarney Castle and the city of Cork a few minutes away.

Dine in style: The Mill restaurant serves Irish breakfasts and classic dishes from the Emerald Isle, like the famous beef stew and delicious carvery roasts. Lighter dishes can be enjoyed in Christy’s Bar, named after the founder of the woollen mill, while afternoon teas feature sweet and savoury treats as well as traditional homemade scones.

How to get there
Blarney Woollen Mill is located in the town of Blarney, 15 minutes from the city of Cork and 30 minutes’ drive from Cork Airport. The port of Cork is about 20 minutes away.

Visitors to Blarney can give the stone a swift peck, and explore the medieval castle keep and baronial mansion, plus the extensive parkland and the town’s former woollen mills – you can still pick up traditional Aran sweaters from the woollen mill, if you’d like to look the part.
Just 15 minutes’ drive away is the city of Cork, often referred to as Ireland’s second city after Dublin, and 'the ‘real’ capital of Ireland’. Cork certainly lives up to the title, with spruced-up streets, revitalised waterfront areas and charming centre. A stroll around the city unveils artisan coffee bars, colourful buildings daubed in a paintbox of colours, and snuggly pubs with live music sessions every night of the week. Surrounded by waterways, one of the best ways to see the city is from the water.
