Explore vibrant Edinburgh from the opulent comfort of this 18th-century hotel, set amidst tranquil gardens - includes breakfast and more

  • Edinburgh elegance: Nestled beside the lush greenery of Holyrood Park in a stunning 18th-century building, The Scott feels more like a cosy countryside retreat than a cosmopolitan hotel in Scotland’s capital city. With origins dating back to the 18th century, the building is as you would expect: grand and impressive. Think landscaped gardens, traditional wood panelling, elegant chandeliers, and stylish ceilings adorned with intricate fresco-style designs.

  • Bonnie abode: Tradition and modernity combine in the hotel’s elegant guest rooms, as the building’s original features seamlessly blend with contemporary designs and ultra-luxe modern comforts. Interiors are cosy and inviting, with plush furnishings, fabulous amenities, and handy mod cons that’ll make you feel right at home.

  • Sophistication and sustainability: You’ll love dining at Bonnar’s: an elegant restaurant set in an 18th-century dining room, boasting floor-to-ceiling windows and serene garden views. The restaurant focuses on sustainability, with its mouth-watering menu featuring dishes made from tasty seasonal ingredients and local produce. Post-dinner, crack open a bottle of champagne in the chic Velvet Lounge, or opt for a fine wine or high-quality whiskey.

How to get there

Edinburgh Waverly Station will be just a 15-minute drive or 30-minute walk away from the hotel, where you’ll be able to travel to all main train stations in the UK. For plane travel, Edinburgh Airport is a 40-minute drive away.

Good to know

Please note that both Bonnar’s and The Velvet Lounge are closed on a Sunday and a Monday. On these days, guests can enjoy dinner and drinks at a sister hotel located next to the property.

Entry requirements

The passport, visa and health requirements at the time of booking can be viewed on the Foreign and Commonwealth Office website for UK citizens, and on the Department of Foreign Affairs website for IE citizens. It is your responsibility to ensure that you and all members of your party are in possession of all necessary travel and health documents, and in compliance with any other immigration/entry requirements before you travel, including whether your passport must be machine readable or which visas/waivers may be required for entry, such as ESTA for USA travel and/or ETIAS for EU travel. Please also be sure to check the validity of your passport and allow up to 10 weeks for passport renewals.

Edinburgh

Vibrant, hilly, and full of charm, Edinburgh enchants all that walk along its cobblestone streets. Get ready to be whisked back in time, as this stunning city is home to a rich history - easily discovered down every winding lane, quaint alleyway, and olde-worlde road.

Nature will be within easy reach, with the lush hills and rugged cliffs of Holyrood Park right on your door. From here, you can walk 12 minutes to Holyroodhouse Palace - a centuries-old building that’s housed many a monarch - and then begin your journey down the famed Royal Mile. Take your time strolling down this infamous road, a piece of history in itself, browsing shops, admiring architecture, marvelling at street performers, and taking refuge in traditional pubs as you go. After 25 minutes or so, you’ll be immersed in the beautiful vistas of Edinburgh Castle. Admire the historic landmark from afar, or buy a ticket and explore the grounds at your own leisure.

Other notable sights include: Arthur’s Seat, Calton Hill, Princes Street Gardens, and Dean Village - a hidden gem that’s well worth the visit if you have time.
