Day 1: UK to Lima

Arrive at your departure airport and check in for your flight to Lima.

For early morning departures (before 4am), be sure to arrive the night before to ensure a smooth and seamless start to your journey.

Day 2: Lima - Arequipa

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before heading to the airport for your flight to Arequipa. Known as the 'White City', Arequipa’s historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, boasting stunning religious monuments and architectural gems like the Basilica Cathedral. Nestled at the foot of the majestic Misti volcano, the city’s skyline is truly breathtaking. Upon arrival, you’ll be warmly welcomed at the airport and transferred to your hotel, ready to begin your exploration of this remarkable destination.

In the afternoon, embark on a captivating half-day tour of Arequipa, a stunning colonial-era city. Begin by exploring the districts of Carmen Alto and Yanahuara, where panoramic viewpoints offer breathtaking vistas of the Misti, Chachani, and Pichu Pichu volcanoes, as well as a sweeping view of Arequipa. Continue your journey to the renowned Santa Catalina Monastery, a mesmerising labyrinth of colourful cloisters, charming streets, and tranquil squares. Conclude your tour at the city's historic main plaza, soaking in its rich architectural beauty.

Day 3: Arequipa

Start your day with breakfast at the hotel before enjoying a full day at leisure to explore the charming city of Arequipa at your own pace. Stroll through its historic streets, soak in the local culture, or simply relax and take in the breathtaking surroundings.

For a deeper insight into the city's architectural heritage, consider joining an optional private excursion to the Sillar Route. Here, you'll uncover the secrets behind Arequipa’s iconic white volcanic stone, witnessing the craftsmanship of local stonemasons. Try your hand at shaping ashlar blocks using traditional tools and admire the stunning church set within the Sillar Route’s walls.

Day 4: Arequipa - Chivay

After a hotel breakfast, set off on a scenic journey to Pampa Cañahuas, a breathtaking landscape teeming with diverse wildlife, including the graceful vicuñas. Along the way, pause in Patahuasi and Tocrapampa to take in their stunning natural beauty and observe a variety of native bird species.

Continue your adventure to Chivay, where you’ll have the opportunity to savour a delicious buffet lunch (at your own expense). Then transfer to your hotel and enjoy a relaxing afternoon at your leisure, soaking in the serene surroundings of this picturesque region.

Day 5: Chivay - Puno

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before embarking on an unforgettable journey from Chivay to Puno. Your adventure begins at Cruz del Condor, a breathtaking viewpoint overlooking the Colca Canyon - the second deepest canyon in the world. If weather conditions allow, witness the awe-inspiring flight of the Andean Condor, the largest flying bird on the planet. Continue to the charming town of Maca, where you’ll visit its historic church and vibrant local market. Then, head to Chivay to enjoy a buffet lunch (at your own expense).

Next, travel to Patapampa, a high-altitude viewpoint offering stunning panoramas of volcanic landscapes. Along the way, stop at Patahuasi and Lagunillas to admire the region’s rich biodiversity and picturesque scenery.

Day 6: Puno

Begin your day with a hotel breakfast before embarking on a mesmerising visit to Lake Titicaca, where you’ll explore the enchanting Uros and Taquile Islands - two of Peru’s most treasured destinations. Your adventure starts at the floating islands of the Uros, where you’ll meet one of the region’s oldest ethnic groups, whose history dates back 3,700 years. Experience their unique way of life, step inside their traditional homes, and gain insight into their fascinating culture.

Next, sail to the picturesque island of Taquile, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its stunning landscapes, where the vast blue lake meets the snow-capped peaks of Illimani. Immerse yourself in the island’s rich traditions as you enjoy a warm, locally-prepared lunch, accompanied by traditional music and dance.

Day 7: Puno - Cuzco

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before setting off on an unforgettable journey to Cusco, the heart of the Peruvian Andes and the ancient capital of the Inca Civilization. Renowned for its spectacular main square, charming cobbled streets, and terracotta-roofed houses reminiscent of old European villages, Cusco is a city rich in history and culture.

Travelling by bus from Puno to Cusco, you’ll make several fascinating stops along the way. Your first destination is the Lithic Museum and the archaeological complex of Pucara, offering a glimpse into the region’s pre-Inca history. Continue to La Raya, the highest point on your route, where you’ll be treated to breathtaking panoramic views of the Andean landscape.

Next, savour a buffet lunch before heading to the impressive archaeological site of Raqch’i, home to the towering Temple of Wiracocha, the tallest known Inca structure. Your final stop is the Church of San Pedro Apóstol in Andahuaylillas, often referred to as the 'Sistine Chapel of the Andes' for its stunning colonial-era artwork.

Day 8: Cuzco - Machu Picchu - Cuzco

Start your day with breakfast at the hotel before setting off on an incredible journey to Machu Picchu, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your journey starts with a transfer to the village of Ollantaytambo, where you’ll board a scenic train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu village). As you travel, take in the stunning views of lush green mountains and winding rivers, setting the stage for the awe-inspiring experience ahead.

Upon arrival, board a bus that'll take you up to the legendary Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. Enjoy a 2.5-hour guided tour, where you’ll uncover the mysteries of this 15th-century masterpiece, marvelling at its intricate stonework and stunning panoramic views from over 2,000 metres above sea level. Whether your visit takes place in the morning or afternoon (depending on availability), the magic of this ancient wonder is sure to leave you spellbound.

After exploring the citadel, return to Aguas Calientes, where - depending on your return train schedule - you’ll have time to explore the charming town at your own pace. Then, board your train back to Ollantaytambo, followed by a transfer to your hotel in Cusco for a well-earned overnight stay.

Your reservation includes a standard-category train (Expedition or Voyager). If you wish to, you can upgrade to a premium train experience (360º Train or Vistadome) during the booking process.

Day 9: Cuzco

After a hotel breakfast, enjoy the day at your leisure to explore Cusco. Alternatively, embark on an exciting optional activity. Opt for a full-day adventure to Rainbow Mountain - head on a scenic trek through stunning landscapes to reach Apu Ausangate, the highest peak in the region. Along the way, interact with local wildlife such as llamas and alpacas, and meet native residents to learn about their daily lives and traditions.

The highlight of the day is a visit to Vinicunca, also known as Rainbow Mountain, where you’ll have time to explore its vibrant, multi-coloured slopes. Then enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant in Cusipata. Alternatively, head on a panoramic night tour of Cusco with a Pisco Sour workshop. Visit iconic attractions like the Koricancha Temple, once an Inca palace and the center of worship for the Sun God. Then, head to the Main Plaza for a fun and interactive Pisco Sour workshop at a renowned local bar, where you’ll learn to craft this signature Peruvian cocktail.

Day 10: Cuzco - Lima

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Lima, the vibrant capital of Peru. Known for its award-winning cuisine, scenic parks along the Pacific coast, fascinating museums, and the stunning colonial Plaza de Armas, Lima offers a wealth of experiences for every traveller.

Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted and transferred to your hotel for check-in. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy at leisure. Take this opportunity to explore the dynamic capital of Peru at your own pace, discovering its rich culture, lively atmosphere, and historical landmarks.

Day 11: Lima

Begin your exploration in the upscale districts of Miraflores and San Isidro, known for their luscious parks and vibrant atmosphere. Then, head to the historic centre, where you'll be captivated by the beauty of Lima's colonial heritage. Take time to appreciate the exquisite colonial architecture surrounding Plaza de Armas, one of Lima's most iconic squares. Your journey continues with a visit to the Larco Museum, home to over 45,000 artifacts that span 5,000 years of ancient Peruvian history, offering a deep dive into the country’s rich cultural past.
