Please note, the itinerary below is based on a four-night stay but will vary depending on your selected duration. The six-night version will include an extra night in Oslo with an optional sightseeing cruise on day two, as well as an extra night in Bergen on day five.
Day 1: UK - Oslo
Oslo, with its captivating blend of natural beauty, urban charm, and island-hopping bliss awaits your arrival. Explore its vast outdoor attractions, from the serene Botanical Gardens and open-air sculpture parks to the refreshing Sørenga seawater pool - a summer favourite. Visit the capital’s Old Town and uncover the city's historic gems, or wander the grand banquet halls of the medieval Akershus Fortress. Discover iconic landmarks like the Maritime Museum at your own pace, then indulge in Oslo's local delicacies, buzzy bars, and lively club scene.
If you opt for the six-night version, you can expect to enjoy an extra day exploring the sights of Oslo and can even embark on an optional two-hour sightseeing cruise on Oslo Fjord. Listen to an onboard guide and learn about the city and it's surrounding countryside from an authentic sailing ship.
Day 2: Oslo - Myrdal - Flåm - Bergen
Begin your day with a four-and-a-half-hour high-speed train ride from Oslo to Myrdal, a scenic mountain station. Once arrived, board the world-famous Flåm Railway (Flåmsbana), which takes you on a spellbinding one-hour journey from the mountains to the fjords of Flåm. As you snake your way through breathtaking Norwegian landscapes, marvel at glittering rivers, quaint villages, and the unmissable Kjosfossen Waterfall, where the train pauses for a five-minute photo break. From Flåm, continue your journey with a scenic three-hour train ride, arriving in Bergen by evening.
Day 3: Bergen
Bergen, a city steeped in history and nestled amidst a breathtaking fjord landscape, invites you to discover its captivating charm. Wander through the UNESCO-listed Bryggen wharf, with its colourful wooden houses dating back to the Hanseatic League era, and ride the Fløibanen funicular to the top of Mount Fløyen for panoramic views. Immerse yourself in the local culture at the vibrant Fish Market, or delve into the city's artistic heritage at the KODE Art Museums. You could even opt to take a four-hour fjord cruise from Bergen to the scenic Osterfjord and Mostraumen Channel, enjoying a unique viewpoint on the city as you head towards the beautiful islands, fjords and waterfalls to explore. After a day of discovery, tuck into fresh seafood and cosy up in a traditional pub, enjoying the lively atmosphere and local brews.
Day 4: Bergen - Oslo
Spend the morning at your own pace exploring Bergen's charm. In the afternoon, board the scenic Bergen Railway and soak up the lush surrounding scenery as you make your comfortable return to Oslo.
If you opt for the six-night version, you can expect to enjoy an extra day exploring the sights of Bergen before heading back to Oslo for one final night.
Day 5: Oslo - UK
Today, prepare for your departure back to the UK as you say goodbye to Norway and head to the airport.
