More than just cheese: The region may be famous for its cheese (Asiago), but the hotel’s Ai Mulini restaurant offers a diverse range of typically Venetian and wider Italian dishes, using locally sourced ingredients – the sweet and nutty cheese does feature, if you’re keen to sample, as well as forest-foraged mushrooms, local potatoes and honey, wild herbs and regional sausages and meats. Less formal – but no less delicious – is the Al Fogolaro wine bar, where you can try different tipples with tempting snacks.
How to get there
Hotel Gaarten Wellness Spa is around 90 minutes’ drive from both Venice and Verona airports. We recommend hiring car to make the most of the stunning surroundings.

Please also be sure to check the validity of your passport and allow up to 10 weeks for passport renewals.

Hotel Gaarten has been designed so that once you arrive, you never have to leave: there’s so much to do here, from the spa to exploring the hiking trails, to trying different dishes in the restaurant and wine bar, and simply soaking up the sun in the gardens – you could easily spend a few days enjoying the picturesque surroundings right outside. The area around the hotel, however, is unspoilt and beautiful, with spectacular valleys, soaring mountains, quiet trails and gently flowing rivers: on foot is certainly the best way to see it all, but the hotel can help you with bike rental if you prefer a more energetic way to get around. Equally, visits to farms, cheese producers (it is Asiago, after all), horse trekking centres and hikes to mountain huts are all possible – just ask at the front desk for details.
