You can visit the world-famous Majestic Café, a surviving jewel from the Art Deco heyday where writers, artists and activists have hung out since 1921. Also in the area you’ll find to-die-for pastel de nata pastry shops and bars to sample some Porto wine.
Admire the classic, azulejo-tiled façades as you walk the streets, and be sure not to miss the Mercado do Bolhão, the historic market of Porto selling fresh food produce, flowers, handmade crafts, vintage items and more. The enchanting, renowned book store Livraria Lello is also within walking distance, and you’re very well connected if you wish to explore other parts of the city by public transport.
