Temple of the Sacred Tooth

We recommend wearing modest clothes during your visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth. Flowers to offer can be purchased along the walkway to the temple. Proper attire is clad for the visit. You may take your cameras; footwear should be removed at the entrance to the temple and there are safe storage facilities available.

Do not pose in front of Buddhist Statues with your back to it for photographs. Locals are generally flexible but it is considered polite if you ask their permission first if you want to photograph them.

Credit cards

MasterCard, Visa, and American Express cards are accepted widely around the island at hotels, shops, restaurants, and malls. However, many small outlets prefer cash and hence it is recommended to carry some cash.

General attire

Tropical weather warms most parts of the island except in mountain regions where evening temperatures can drop to 14 degrees.

Comfortable kinds of cotton and flat shoes is best for everyday wear. Shorts and t-shirts are accepted. However, on a visit to temple, clothes worn must cover shoulders and knees. Headwear and footwear must be removed before entering a temple. At hotels, casual attire at breakfast and lunch is accepted but at dinner guests are expected to be attired in smart casual. Mosquito repellent is also recommended.

Please note, tips are not included in your program inclusions. Tipping is not compulsory, however it is appreciated when accepting and receiving good service.

Food & drink

To ensure your well-being, we recommend dining at establishments suggested by your escort, as they are familiar with safe food handling practices. If you have any food allergies, please inform the restaurant staff before placing your order. When purchasing fruit from roadside vendors, please ensure it is washed and cut in front of you. Bottled water is readily available and recommended for consumption throughout your travels.
