Uncover Norway's remote beauty with a traditional rorbu stay in the Lofoten Islands - includes breakfast, flights, sea eagle safari, car hire and more
Dramatic peaks, soulful fishing villages, and age-old traditions define your escape to Norway's Lofoten Islands. A four-night rorbu stay on Svinøya offers a truly immersive experience, inviting you to live like a local near the beautiful town of Svolvær. These traditional rust-red cabins, once home to generations of fishermen, now provide unique and cosy retreats directly on the water's edge. With your own hire car at hand, the stunning, rugged beauty of the archipelago is yours to discover at your own pace. Thanks to Svinøya's remote and pristine setting, this hideaway is also an ideal spot for potentially witnessing the magnificent dance of the Northern Lights between September and April. During the summer, another natural spectacle to behold are the golden hours of the "eternal sunset," where the sun hovers just above the horizon for extended periods of time.
Beyond your charming rorbu, you’ll also be embarking on an incredible included excursion. Here, traditional fishermen’s huts (known as ‘rorbuer’) brush shoulders with buzzing bars and top-billed seafood restaurants. Start with a stroll past the colourful fishing boats of Svolvær’s charming harbour, before delving into the region’s history at the Lofoten War Memorial Museum. Adventurous types shouldn’t miss the chance to hike up the iconic Svolværgeita rock formation for spellbinding views of the archipelago, whilst a wealth of wildlife-spotting and fjord cruises ensures plenty of once-in-a-lifetime memories.
Hop in the car to explore further afield, perhaps discovering the stunning white sands of Rørvikstranda Beach, or admiring the timeless charm of the fishing village of Henningsvær.
