Oxford
This close to the majestic sights of Oxford, it would be remiss not to make at least one day trip into the city’s historic heart. Follow the river - known as the ‘Isis’ when it flows through this storied city - on bicycle or on foot along the pretty Thames Path and into the city; there you can explore centuries-old university buildings and famous sights like the Bodleian Library and the Radcliffe Camera, visit the many museums, shop along the boutique-lined High Street and pick up souvenirs in the traditional Covered Market. If you fancy a longer walk, Port Meadow is a popular destination for locals; of course, you also have the Chilterns National Landscape and the Cotswolds easily accessible from your hotel if you’re up for exploring further afield.
